Smaragdi is Greek Hospitality at its best! Our room was beautiful and clean. Hotel’s pool area was very nice. The location is ideal, few meters to the best beach in Santorini with restaurants, minimarket and bus stop in walking distance. All staff were fantastic always smiling. Maria, the owner, was extremely helpful. She gave us sincere and good recommendations for the best places on the island. If you visit Santorini, this is the place to stay, enjoy!

Great place to relax and explore the island. Close to the beach and plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpfull and friendly; We couldn't get picked up from the port due to our late booking, but instead they offered us a drop off, even though they don't normally provide this service. The budget room was ok and even though our bathroom was a little shabby, it is definitly worth the price considering your staying at a very nice hotel. If you're looking for an affordable place (away fron the caldera), this is a great option. You don't get better value on Santorini.

We returned from this hotel earlier this week. We loved it - need i say more! I read the reviews on tripadvisor and was not disapointed. The only thing i will say is that i booked a budget room thinking, we dont spend much time in the room and if everything else was lovely it would not matter. However, when we arrived, we were not happy with out budget room. It was perfectly adequate and maybe it is our age (50 ish) but we want a little luxury now!!.( But it is good that Maria accommodates for all range)s so we told Maria, who immediately changed our room and in fact we changed 3 times during the week to which ever rooms were available. We stayed 3 nights in a deluxe, 2 nights in a studio and 2 nights in the budget room. This made our holiday and would definately go back. Maria and her staff are brilliant. They do everything to make your stay as wonderful as possible. Maria gave us brilliant advice on restaurants and the island in general. We have never stayed in a hotel with such brilliant staff. They were all so helpful and happy and would do anything for you. Well done Maria.

Room Tip: Depends on your budget and how important the room is to you.

We returned from Santorini two days ago, we had a great time. When we arrived on the island, I was disappointed, the island looked run down, and I was expecting it to be prettier. But we arrived at the hotel and the welcome is so warm and friendly. As other reviewers have said, the staff are exceptional, and nothing is too much trouble. We were in a deluxe studio, and it had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, and we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of English speaking tv channels there were. The rooms were serviced every day, and everywhere was immaculately clean. We had breakfast one day which was fine, but 9eur each. After that we used to walk to the beach turn left follow the road until you reached Locuro, turn left and make your way to the main street. Buy fruit, milk etc from the Big co-op, and delicious pastries and bread from the shop next door. Unbelievably, you just need to ask in the co-op for a lift back to Smaragdi, which we did as six bottles of water are heavy. They happily drop you back to the hotel in their mini bus. We always gave the driver a tip, which he always looked embarassed to accept. Restaurants along the beach front, plenty to choose from, but if you want a cheapie, turn right along the beach and there is a snack bar which had the cheapest of beer. Mythos, Eur 3.00 in the hotel Eur1.60 at the snack bar. The swimming pool was so clean, and surrounded by attractive gardens. Very good value for money, a relaxing week.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

We stayed at smaragdi for 10 nights and from start to finish we couldn't have asked for more. Our holiday started with a complimentary transfer to the hotel then we were greeted by a very friendly Maria who also did the welcome meeting too. Maria told us all about the island and the best places to visit. We stayed in a deluxe apartment and had a bottle of presecco and fruit which was complimentary and a nice touch. All the staff were very friendly and happy to help in anyway they could. We were upgraded during our stay to room 11 which had been refurbished and was lovely. I enjoyed relaxing on the balcony late afternoon with a drink and popping into the jacuzzi to cool down. The hotel is also in a quiet location which is only 2 minutes from the beach and a short walk to bars and restuarants all of which served really nice food at a reasonable price.
We hired a car for 4 days to tour the island and with it only being small you can get from one end of the island to another in about an hour. We went to some lovely places including fira and oia and I have never seen such beautiful scenery and blue sky. I was not ready to come home and could have easily of stayed longer. When it came to checking out Maria ensured that transferred were arranged for us to the airport. This was a perfect hotel and perfect holiday. Can't want to return!!!

Room Tip: Deluxe room 11 is lovely with balcony facing the pool.

Great value for money. Good location on Perivolos beach - just 20 minutes drive from Thira and 12 from the port. 3 (about 150-200 metres) minutes to the beach and main street with all bars, etc.
Staff is very friendly (well, by staff I mean the family who owe the hotel - they are amazing), helpful and willing to go an extra mile for you.
There is a pool bar in the hotel with some snacks, salads and drinks.
The room was cleaned (cleaned daily), with good air-conditioning and plastic windows (so it was very quiet).
Special thank you for the music in the pool bar is (lounge/ ambitient / relaxing) . This was amazing and just right comparing to annoying cheap pop music in most hotels.
The hotel is very cozy, family like, but the team are very professional, so I would definitely recommend this hotel.
If you rent a suite, you get a bottle of Prosecco free and a very a jacuzzi on the balcony!
