We visited in August 2012 to get married and had a great time. We weren't completely happy with room 6 as it didn't feel very private (you could see the whole room, inc. the bed if you walked past outside and to close the shutters the room would have been too dark- even with the ceiling light). Also, felt a bit uncomfortable that the head-height bathroom window opened up to room no.5's terrace area! We told Athena and she moved a few things around to give us a new room, and very happy with the new room 7! Two single beds put together were a bit hard and woke up a bit stiff every morning between both beds, but lots of hotel beds are the same.
Didn't mind the dumpster bins that were between the hotel and the beach- just hold your breathe when you walk past! The hotel can't help this so don't see why it should be held against them. Dorian's bar and Bob's opposite are a bargain for cocktails and beers, so head here before heading off to the beach bars and paying €7 a drink! Saying that, the food is pretty much standard price whether you're on the beach or not- perhaps a few euros in it at most.
We liked to be by the pool some days but felt the Meltemi Suites' pool was a bit too cosy, so we went to Meltemi Village across the road for a bit of anonymity and personal space.
Athena and the staff were small in numbers but so lovely. The cleaning maid and the night porter were both friendly and always say hi when you walk past. Athena is as lovely as the reviews say- although if you're not a talker just give a quick wave and duck by! Athena also surprised us by decorating our hotel room and outside area welcoming us back and husband and wife for when we arrived back from our wedding, which was a lovely surprise that we really appreciated!
Really enjoyed staying in this hotel and would recommend to others.
