“Elegant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Homeric Poems is an elegant hotel on the caldera in Firastephani. The suites are elegantly decorated and they offer a mini kitchenettes as well. The location is good as you don't have to walk from far from where you park your car if you are renting one. There is also not a million steps to go to either. It is only a 10 min walk to Fira (downhill), but the walk back up is a little tough if you are not in shape. The only cons we had was the service was not the greatest (slow, not on time) and we had no wifi in our room. We had to go outside of the room about 30 ft to get it.

Room Tip: Please note that most rooms on caldera are small -- be sure to ask for details on sizes of the beds...

This hotel couldn't have been nicer. JeanPierre and the entire staff went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome and had a wonderful visit. The food at the hotel was some of the best i've ever had. Locally sourced and seasonal, each meal we had there was amazing. When George found out we were checking out before breakfast was served, he made sure we had something in our room the night before and even packed us some sandwiches and cake for our flight.
I will miss having breakfast on my terrace each morning. It was by far the best part of this trip for me.

We've stayed at Homeric twice including hosting our daughter's wedding party there. We could not be happier with the accommodations, food and staff. The views are amazing. You are close enough to Fira that you can walk into town yet far enough away that most cruise ship passengers don't clog the area. Also there are some very good restaurants close by.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in June 2011. First of all, the views couldn't be any better. All of the rooms are cliff-side, overlooking the sea and the caldera. The sunsets are incredible. As far as location goes, this place really can't be beat.

Our first night we stayed in the Andromache suite, which I was slightly disappointed with. I can't point to anything that was wrong with it at all, I just wasn't impressed. It was plain but comfortable, but not necessarily luxurious. It might be that my expectations were too high since we had just been at a 5-star resort in Mykonos prior to traveling to Santorini. On our second and third nights we were moved into the Eros honeymoon suite, which I enjoyed more. The Eros suite had a little bit more style and had a jacuzzi tub in its HUGE bathroom. The views from the two suites were equally good.

The infinity pool is spectacular. The best photos from our entire trip to Greece are of the infinity pool overlooking the bright blue sea on a sunny day. The pool was slighlty cold in early June, but refreshing.

We didn't actually have much contact with the staff, so I can't comment on that. We had breakfast delivered to our balcony every morning and it was delicious - but not free.

Overall, we had a good experience and would recommend Homeric Poems, if only for the magnificent views.

We had the best time and experience at this Hotel on the edge of heaven. JeanPierre and his entire staff were wonderful, they were all so kind and engaging. We read many reviews prior to our decission and we are soooo glad we stayed here. The locatiion is perfect and the views are out of this world. Every morning started with a glorious breakfast on the balcony and ended with beautiful sunsets. There are so many nice things about this Hotel the from the genuine conversation with staff to our observation of them constantly cleaning every surface (personal pride). Did we love our time in Santorini? Yes! Did Homeric Poems make it even more special? Absolutely! The pictures you see on their site are 100% accurate.

Room Tip: There are a lot of steps our room was 1/2 from the office and the pool - perfect.

After spending four nights Oia, we have decided to spend the last two nights in Fira and were looking for the best hotel with the best view of the sunset, close to all the attractions to Fira... So we hand picked is place .... Waaaw...
For the moment we arrived, Jean-Pierre was great host, so friendly and very helpful. The view is so beatiful, the pool is amazing, the rooms are perfect, the food and the service is great... I just can't wait to come back again to this place...
Thank you so much Jean-Pierre for everything and making the last two days of our trip the most memorable part of our trips...
