“Seduced by Santorini and Villa Ilias!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

Santorini is one of those places that once you visit, it captures your heart and soul. What makes this volcanic island more spectacular are its people. This was our 7th stay in Santorini and 6th year staying at Villa Ilias in Firostefani. We have stayed in bigger chain hotels all over the world but nothing compares to the warm welcome of villa Ilias. Behind doors of a simple facade awaits the most spectacular view. From our private balcony high above the sea overlooking the entire Caldera are world famous Santorini sunsets spectacular views towad Fira and Akritiri in the distance. It really does not get better than this. If you're looking for a small informal affordable family owned Inn Villa Ilias is the place. Check out their view: www.villailias.com

What can I say. We just had our sixth stay at Villa Ilias. George and Pauline, the owners, are now our dear friends. The location of the hotel is perfect being situated on the caldera with the jaw dropping view but you also get views to the east side of the island as well. The breakfast buffet is great and always includes something homemade by Marina. They also have a nice pool area overlooking the caldera where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the amazing sunsets. There is no need to fight the crowds in Oia when you can sit right outside your door and see the same thing. Hotel Villa Ilias is right on the main walking path along the caldera side of the island and Fira and Imerovigli are both easy walks. Villa Ilias is definitely a 5 star destination for us and we are already planning our trip for next year.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2013. We had a great vacation here. We stayed in an exclusive room; I chose this because it guaranteed a full view of the caldera and private balcony. The view was amazing. To wake up, open the double doors to the room and see the the volcano from bed was incredible. Breakfast was served every morning with variety each day ranging from pastries and breads to quiche, meats and cheeses.

The service was great. We had a few questions for Pauline during our stay and she was always helpful, even made restaurant reservations for us. Daily maid service was provided that included fresh towels and dishware. Something to take into consideration is that the rooms (at least ours #6) are very small. This really wasn't a huge concern for us as we didn't spend a ton of time in the room, but it was a little cramped. The bathroom was also extremely small, very little room in the shower, which made it fairly difficult to get to any toiletries we put on the ground. The walls were also thin, we could hear the neighbors above us VERY well at night.. maybe they were just loud people.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here. The views, service, and location were perfect. I recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful view in Firostefani.

This was an awesome hotel. Great rooms, clean, very nice owners, great location, nice view of the Caldera, and nice pool. I could go on and on. Good breakfast, parking included, so if you rent a car / scooter / quad you don't need to worry about parking. We rented some and had no issues.

The location is very good. A short walk to Fira, but far enough away from it so it's quiet. Sit outside and watch the sunset from the chairs outside by the pool deck. A truly magnificent experience.

Do not hesitate in booking this hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a room with a Caldera view.

Some friends of mine want to come and visit me in Santorini so I went around to check out some hotels that interested me. One of them was Villa Ilias. The hotel has been recommended to me many times before from customers of ours, but I needed to check it out by myself to for a better opinion.

All rooms have a fantastic caldera view. They have 2 rooms which are handicap friendly and suitable for the ones with inability to walk too much and to climb many steps: the "Superior room" and the "Standard room" on the first terass. The superior room has a private balcony. You can go by car all the way to this terass and then there are only 2 small steps up and 2 small steps to the rooms.

There are standard rooms at the pool terass and on the top floor is the private and "Excusive room" with a private large terass and the best view the hotel can offer. The studio for 4 has a private balcony and a partial view towards the volcano and the caldera.

Villa Ilias is owned by the Santorinian family Damigos and it used to be the former residence to one of their ancestors, Georgos Ilias Damigos. The family has kept the traditional style of the building, the rooms and the breakfast area. It has loads of charm and you will be warmly welcomed and taken care of by the family and employees.

This is a highly recommended hotel, clean with comfortable rooms with enough space. They have very good rates for a hotel with caldera view!

I also went to see the two private caldera houses, located 80 meters form the hotel just before Nomikos Villas in Firostefani. Both the traditional studio and the traditional apartment are built according to the islands architecture and really very nice and "homey"! I liked that they have kept the old furnishings to retain its charm instead of using new and modern.

This review is long overdue. We stayed here in August 2010 and it was wonderful! When we arrived, the view literally took our breath away. Villa Ilias was one of the highlights of our trip. It was scorching hot and we stepped right out of our room into the pool. We could've stayed there our whole time in Santorini, and very reluctantly went sightseeing around the rest of the island.

The rooms were decent, and the breakfast was lovely. The only thing that was a bit of a shock was the 'island policy' of what you do with your toilet paper instead of flushing - I hadn't read any warnings about this previously!

Villa Ilias is right up there in the top 10 places I've ever stayed though - it's central and the view is simply incredible. You'll be on Cloud 9!

Room Tip: The rooms right by the pool are great!

Just a little bit of paradise :) This place is just perfect if you wanna have some rest and appreciate a beautiful view. This hotel is also a good place to be if you wanna try the greek food with all the restaurants around and to visit the rest of the Island. Pauline and Giorgios, the owners, will help you with all your questions about where you can go and how.
As you can see, I just loves it ;)
