“Comfortable, affordable and beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We stayed for four nights in one of the upstairs rooms at Santorini View. It was perfect! The room was spacious, with a queen size bed, sofa sleeper, dining table, small kitchen and bathroom. The views from the balcony are AMAZING! The room had recently been updated and was very attractive and had all the amenities we needed. The staff, including Georgia (the owner) were courteous and attentive, always asking if there was anything we needed.

The location is what sets Santorinio View apart from other places. Our apartment had 21 stairs from the main walking path. Some of the others had 200+ stairs! Yes, this meant we didn't have as much privacy as other places. But, we got such a kick out of people watching and hearing people walk down the steps and go, "WOW!" when they saw the view. We were so happy that that was what we experienced just sitting on our balcony! Finally, we really appreciated being out of the main town of Fira (with zillions of tourists), yet close enough to walk for dinner and shopping. It's just 10 minutes away.

Room Tip: Recommend a room on the top floor with a private balcony

Upon arriving at Santorini View, my friend and I knew we would love the place. Perched atop the idyllic caldera, the views from every angle are spectacular. The building faces the turquoise Aegean and volcanic island Nea Kameni, and surrounded by whitewashed houses (ok, hotels for the most part). Set in the middle of Firostefani, the village was the better choice for us. and it lacked the chaos of Fira and Oia all while being very accessible. There are not too many stairs to reach the studios.

What made Santorini View unforgettable was the warmth we received from Georgia, the owner, and Helen from the moment we burst in the reception to all the hugs goodbye. We first had a pleasant surprise by being placed in an incredible room with, as Helen said with a smile, "the best balcony view." Indeed. It was the room with the balcony situated right beside the stairs, above the reception. The view was surreal - it was elevated and completely unobstructed, and we were treated to a particularly beautiful sunset. Every day people would come to where we were to take photos, and we only had to wake up and step outside! It might be a problem for some people looking for more privacy, as our balcony was right beside the stairs highly frequented by tourists and hotel workers, but it did not bother us at all.

All throughout our stay, we never hesitated to ask for advice from both Georgia and Helen, always eager to help. Ask Georgia for restaurant recommendations - they will not disappoint. They both really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and to introduce us to their beautiful island and Greek culture, friendliness that went above and beyond that of a mere hotelier / client relationship.

The room itself was simple yet comfortable, with all the basic necessities and even a kitchenette and a fridge. No shower curtains - something we've noticed in almost all the places we stayed in Greece, which almost always resulted in a slightly flooded bathroom. Easily remedied by putting a towel beforehand. The room was cleaned daily.

The breakfast was a definite plus!!! Served on trays was fresh orange juice, hard boiled eggs, bread and breadsticks, fresh fruit, cake... and the delicious yogourt with honey! Definitely filling enough for a day's worth of adventures.

We have already recommended the place to travellers we have met, and we will not hesitate to do so. It is great value for what we paid. Thank you again Georgia and Helen for making our stay unforgettable! Efcharisto poli from the two Canadian girls!

Many of the other reviews on this site have referred to the high quality of the Santorini View Studios and they are accurate. The Santorini View is well-positioned and high enough for magnificent views of the extraordinary beauty of Santorini's high walls (caldera), draped by a whitewashed village, and breathtaking sunsets. The 6-studio hotel is nestled in an ideal location for watching the sunset – and close to everything in Firostefani, such as restaurants, a small but well-stocked grocery, cabs, bus line, and taverns. The rooms are impeccably decorated with great attention to detail and aesthetics. The free wifi in the room was a plus. The suite had a large balcony with table and chairs, a fully-equipped kitchen (2-burner hot plate, coffee maker, electric water kettle, dishes, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and med-size frig), and a bathroom. The suite stayed cool when it was warm outside and was toasty during the cooler evenings (excellent A/C and heating system). The free breakfast was delightful – brought to my balcony each morning at my discretion and included fresh fruit, yogurt, honey, coffee, orange juice, eggs, and bread and cake (offered but I declined based on my gluten sensitivity). However, upon hearing this, Helen the manager went to three places in search of gluten-free bread for me, without me even asking! That kind of attention to detail and specialized customer care is extremely rare.

Georgia, the owner of Santorini View, was amazing! From the minute I arrived to the moment I left, I was attended to no matter my query or need was, no matter the time of day/night. Georgia made me feel like royalty. I had the opportunity to view several of the momentarily unoccupied suites (at my request) and each one was more magnificent that than the last. They are all tastefully styled in a way that shows great attention not only to detail, but to comfort. It’s like walking into a wonderful fantasy! The folks at Santorini View are incredibly hospitable and stopped at nothing to provide the best service possible during my two-night stay. Payment was a snap. At the end of my visit I didn’t feel like a tourist just passing through, but a member of a family. The Santorini View is situated in the perfect location on the island for restaurants, sight-seeing, day-trips, and most of all – sunsets! It is an excellent option for the price, quality, and customer care. If you go to Santorini Island look no further for santuary – it is waiting for you at Santorini View!

We paid a triple room and we received a double room - the hotel owner said "you are only 2 persons so you receive a double room - why do you need for more?!" (because we paid for it!)
*the room pictures have nothing in common with the reality - the furniture is gramma's old age, nobody was cleaning the room (we stayed 4 nights) - but, someone was passing by everyday and changing stuff in our room just to seem they cleaned up the room
*never book a hotel if they don't have bathroom pictures! - the bathroom was....no further comment
*regarding the breakfast - it was the same everyday - and what a pity for the owner, we stayed on the ground-floor so we could see how Stella was moving un-eaten food from one plate to other's guests (Stella is the maid, the secretary, the ..crakerjack for this hotel) we do not recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: never book a hotel if they don't have bathroom pictures!

We stayed here in September for 2 nights at the start of our island hopping trip. Room was clean and comfortable, hot water was plentiful and a lovely breakfast served on out balcony with that amazing Caldera view . The lady who worked there (Didn't get her name) was very friendly and helpful . The apartments are very close to the centre of Firostefani and as they are at the top there aren't too many steps unlike a lot of accommodation in that area
Free transport to and from the airport or port is provided which is great although when we arrived there was no one there to pick us up but a quick phone call soon sorted that, on leaving for the port though the transport was only available 2 hours before we actually needed to go. We took it anyway and spent the time in a cafe watching the activity on the port but in hindsight we might have got a taxi a little later instead .
Also a word of warning- although we used our card to reserve our room via the internet, they would not let us pay with our card as it apparently was only possible to pay by card when the owner was present! This meant that we had to have an unscheduled walk to Fira to get cash to pay our bill which almost ruined our last evening there
Overall though a lovely little place and a great price for that amazing view

We stayed for 8 nights in the santorini view, we loved it as a place as its location overlooking the caldera was spectacular.
We were in room 2 which was a really nice size and was very clean, Angela the manageress looked after our every whim and provided us with a fantastic breakfast each morning on our little balcony and provided us with local information. It is a brilliant place too stay and I can't recommend enough. A little tip whilst on santorini is to use the bus service as its cheap, reliable and runs into the early hours( they all start/ finish in Fira) we used to walk down to the bus station for our little bit of exercise and bus back up in the evening, buses go to all major sites and beaches and cost a max of 2.20euro.
A big thank you to Angela for all her kindness.

Santorini View was located near some restaurants and markets, but it's not in the heart of Fira. It was a long trip to the main shops and restaurants. The beds were standard, there was a kitchen, it was a somewhat sanitary hotel. This is a hotel for budget travelers or people traveling in a family. The views were spectacular, however. A perfect view of the volcanic island, beautiful blue water, it was almost surreal on how nice the view was. The sunset on the ocean was magnificent as the orange red lights reflected in the water. This hotel was cheap, provided transportation between the port/ airport, and the service was unlike any other. They gave free breakfast and catered to our every need.
