“Extremely Hospitable, but not a dream”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

Santorini View was located near some restaurants and markets, but it's not in the heart of Fira. It was a long trip to the main shops and restaurants. The beds were standard, there was a kitchen, it was a somewhat sanitary hotel. This is a hotel for budget travelers or people traveling in a family. The views were spectacular, however. A perfect view of the volcanic island, beautiful blue water, it was almost surreal on how nice the view was. The sunset on the ocean was magnificent as the orange red lights reflected in the water. This hotel was cheap, provided transportation between the port/ airport, and the service was unlike any other. They gave free breakfast and catered to our every need.

The facts about Santorini View’s (SV) facility and service. They provide pickup and drop off from and to the airport or sea port. We stayed two nights in May, in the 3 beds room on the top right corner of the facility (Right on top of the small office). The overall facility was cute, functional and impeccably clean. It has small kitchen with refrigerator and all utensils and chinaware necessary to prepare meals and drinks. Bathroom was adequate with hairdryer. Bedroom includes three firm beds (Common in all hotels we visited in Turkey and Greece), standard dining table, a dresser and a closet. Our room has a private balcony overlooking the "breath taking" waters of Santorini. Stella, the very nice owner, greeted us upon our arrival and walked us through the room. Her facility manager and all around great gal, Angela, brought us complementary drinks. Every day, Angela brings breakfast and cleans the rooms. Breakfast on the balcony overlooking the waters was really the best breakfast experience we have ever had.

Facts about SV’s location. SV is located on the very top edge of the caldera and is on the main walking path to the rest of the hotels in the area. In fact, SV would be the first hotel on the path. The good thing is, guest do not have to walk far down the caldera. For visitors that stayed further down, the challenge is not so much going down but climbing up the caldera. Imagine climbing up 100 or more steps every time you want to do anything outside of your hotel facility. Imagine that and carrying your luggage !!. Ouch!! (One Aussy man commented to his wife as they passes our balcony, “Why didn’t we stay here?!”

The great location did come with two slight disadvantages. First, specific to our balcony, located on the very beginning of the walking path, everybody has to pass our balcony. It is not as bad as it sounded. First of all, it is not a busy walk way. Although occasionally people do pass our balcony, the vast majority of the visitors do not even acknowledge us being there. For many visitors, it was the first opportunity to see the mesmerizing view of the waters. For others, they just respect our “privacy”. One note: our room is completely quiet. Second, being at the top of the caldera, there are electric lines crossing our line of view. But again it is not much of a distraction. It only becomes a factor when taking pictures from the balcony.

At 89 euro per night in mid May, it was among the best valued hotels on the caldera.
So the bottom line is, our overall experience staying at Santorini View is nothing less than Great! We definitely would stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: Room on the top left of the facility with private balcony and away from the main walk path would be...

My wife and I stayed here for my wife's 50th birthday. We were not disappointed!
The views were spectacular and the island is beautiful. Stella could not be more helpful, and her young assistant was a joy.
Breakfast served on our own private balcony every morning, overlooking the Caldera...WOW!
There are only six rooms in the hotel, but that just made it a more intimate experience. We had our own cooking facilities in the room which were more than adequate for our needs. Our room was a traditional cave room with arched ceilings a kitchen and shower room. I cooked a meal for us a couple of times with no problems and Stella gave us olive oil and salt etc so we didn't have to buy any (probably what other guests had left behind).
Stella even gave my wife a bottle of wine to celebrate her birthday with. Thank you Stella.
If you are even considering this wonderful island for a holiday, check this hotel out and book room 4, 5(our room) or six to get the full balcony treat.

Room Tip: top floor has the private balconies, but foom 5 is the room to have for authenticity and ambience

We really appreciated the excellent service of the owner, mrs Stella, who arranged our stay at the double room with a separate (no access by others) balcony, enjoying a limitless view to the Caldera. Although all double rooms have private areas at front, facing the Caldera, only a few had an individual balcony. The hotel also offers free transportation from/to the port, daily room service and a rich breakfast. The location is ideal, 15mins walk from the more lively, but crowded, Fira, connected with bus service, very near the village's market and a parking area. Finally, the cost was fair compared to the competition, but, according to the prevailing greek rule, definately 30% higher than should be, viewing the overall accomodation offered.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms with individual balcony

I booked a double in Santorini View, for 5 nights. I was travelling with my old mother and find here a perfect location, 10minutes walk from the crowded Fira, with all its restaurantes and bars, but Firostefani is much better, quite and with the best view of the island. Stella, the owner, has been fantastic, helping us with every request. Booked excursion with her, she provided also at pick up to/from airport. The room, mine was n. 5, has little kitchenette, bathroom (very small shower, but guess it is everywhere here) and a large double bed + one single bed. Private balcony where we can enjoy the view, and breakfast (bread, jam, ham and cheese, croissant and the famous yogurt with honey, cereals, fruit, etc...). I definitely recomand this place, at about 90€/night it is all worth it!

We stayed in Santorini view for 4 nights in May 2012 and found our stay truly amazing. The views from the room are simply spectacular (apart from the electrical cables :( that block the view).

Although there was an option to come by the mini bus provided by the hotel but we chose to come by car. The location was very good (near the center of Firostefani), so it was easy to find. Stella waited for us in front of the blue church and helped us to reach the apartments. Initially we were given bigger ground floor room but we chose to take the smaller room on the first floor to enjoy the blacony and the view. Stella made it ready in 1 hour. She was a very warm host and made sure that our stay was comfortable (by providing us with iron, restaurant tips, kitchen utensils etc).

Views of the aegan and the caldera were simple breathtaking. Also the location of the apartment, close to the pedestrian lane made it not secluded and enjoyable. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who would like to visit Santorini. Although the beauty of Oia is different but Firostefani and especially Santorini view is definitely a worthy choice.

Room Tip: There is No swimming pool or Fitness center but that wasnt a problem for us. First floor rooms have...

So it was a kind of serendipitious experience. We booked 2 nights at Santorini View Studios located at Firostefani village in Santorini. We sailed to Santorini by the Seajets ferry and so asked for the (free) transfer from the port to the hotel. And sure enough, the owner's husband was there with his mini-bus. At the hotel, we were welcomed by the owner Stella with a glass of fresh juice and croissants. We checked in a bit early in a double room - although we had booked a triple room, the view from the double room was just marvellous and so we traded in the triple for the double. Stella was kind enough to accomodate another small bed for my son in the room. So, even though the room felt crowded with this added bed, it was made up for by the services.

The room had amenities like a small kitchenette with an electric stove, some utensils and cutlery. We even cooked noodles one evening! (TIP: If you need to get some groceries and / or water head out to the Carrefour outlet about a kilometer away or the mini-markets about a few meters away) TV is a small basic one with hardly any English channels. But then who would want to watch TV at Santorini? Wi-fi is free. Bathroom has basic amenities.

We had breakfast, which is more than adequate, in our room / balcony watching the cruise ships and the caldera. The villages of Fira and Firostefani are just walks away. A nice walk to the cathedrals and villages via narrow, cobbled stoned alleys is invigorating. The shopping and eating hub is the village of Fira. (TIP: For good, cheap Gyros and Souvlaki, go to Obelix (yes, Asterix's sidekick!) - they even deliver them for you)

All in all - it was a great stay and reasonably priced accomodation.

Room Tip: Get room 4 if you take the double - it has a private balcony with great views
