“a very relaxing week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2010

We stayed at Vallas Apartments for 5 nights in July 2010 .
The hotel is located in very nice area with many restaurants and Greek taverns with in a short walking distance. Our rooms were spacious with a small kitchenette, very clean and with a nice view of the caldera.
It was also a roof top with a Jacuzzi with magnificent view. The free wi-fi was a big help for my children and my husband because I could enjoy me vacations and also work.
During our arrival everything was great. The manager and all the staff were very helpful and try to make your stay memorable.
Overall I can say that our first vacation to Santorini with our children was very good and definitely we are planning coming back.

We were a group of 8 people travelling to Greece recently and booked our rooms well in advanced. When we arrived on the day (after a big struggle to find the apartments) 6 of us were booked into the garden apartments and 2 of the ladies had to go to a different building. I just felt that was not right - they should have warned us about that seeing that we booked so well in advance.

The rooms are very clean. However, the showers are so small and uncomfortable - my husband had to hold the shower head for me so that I can wash my hair and the shower curtain clings to your body like "glad wrap". The cleaning lady is very kind but she moves all your stuff around when she cleans up - we did not like that.

This hotel was one of the highlights of my trip to Greece with my husband. I am surprised to read these rather negative reviews prior to mine - perhaps we got lucky!

We stayed at the Vallas in July 2010 and we absolutely loved it. The location was perfect! Our room was upstairs and the jacuzzi was directly in front of it. Because there were not many other patrons at the hotel, it felt as if the jacuzzi was ours.

The rooms were lovely - extremely clean, free internet service, well-equipped kitchenette (great for eating in one night, as we did). There was a lovely veranda right outside, and we sat there often, having a few drinks and watching the sunset. It was peaceful, pretty and relaxing, especially for those looking for that "romantic Greek experience"!

Also, the location was good, as there were nice (and pricey) restaurants right there, plus, cheaper Greek tavernas within a very short walking distance.

We found the breakfast to be quite nice. One day we got less than the previous day, but we just mentioned it, and they accommodated us.

We found the people themselves to be allright. We took an interest in them and chatted a lot. My husband was tired of the sightseeing on our last day, so he sat at the restaurant for a beer and a smoke on his own for an hour while I took some final photos. When I came back, he was sharing complimentary beer, cucumbers and tomatoes with the owner, as well as a lot of laughs. We found everyone to be quite nice, especially after we took the time to talk to them and find out about them.

Overall, we loved the place and have lots of wonderful memories here!!

P.S. If any of you are looking to take a photo of that famous postcard white church overlooking the caldera, it's right there, practically next door! You just have to up top behind the hotel to see it properly, as you would on the postcards!

There where no signs to the Vallas Hotel, so wasn`t easy to find. Rooms are spotless clean. Small pool on the first floor with a fantastic view. Hotel on the rim of the Caldera. Quite a bit of walking needed to and back from Fira. Free wi-fi a bonus if you need it. The owner serve breakfast (egg or yogurt) Just don`t ask for eggs if he served you yogurt He will tell you to go and have breakfast somewher els!

After a 3 hour ferry ride and then trying to locate the hotel in the heat, we arrived.... we arrived on time, and went to the reception desk which was closed.. I was met by the 'owner' - 'Mr Vallas' who said he didnt have access to the keys and we would have to wait for the man who deals with this to come.

We waited 3 hours, luckily caught the sunset. On going back we were told that he still hadnt arrived, but someone could help us. Another of the men from the hotel appeared, saying that the room we had booked (since may) was no longer avaliable, as it had been booked for others... he offered us this 'beautiful' summer house, we went to look at this place and it was awful... derelict, smelt, unused. We refused and demanded the room we had booked. He finally showed us to our room but said it was only avaliable for one night (this changed the next day of course when he said we could stay the whole time we had booked)

The room was awful, completely different to what was advertised on the internet. The air con didnt work, in fact all it blew out was warm, smelly air. The room was basic, looked clean but didnt smell clean. The bathroom was industrial, shower curtains were dirty, lined at the bottom with black dirt, it is also very small, you cant even wash your hair in it.. Just overall very umimpressed.

The walk to fira is far... on the website was advertised as in fira, but its actually in firostefani.... it takes about 10 mins to walk there, but involves going up and down a fair bit of stairs which is not advisable in the heat of the day, and also at night did not feel very safe going back.

We didnt bother to sample the breakfast seeing as the rest of the hotel was shocking, on one occasion when we wanted a snack, we were told that out of all they advertised on the menu they served only toast and salad.

This hotel seems to be ran by 3 men who havent a clue, it is unsafe, unreliable. The only good thing about the hotel is the view of the caldera. But from what i saw there was only one private balcony.

If you are non fussy, looking for a very budget place then this would be ok... but even so this should be rated a one star and price reduced for what it offers!!!
Please spend your money else where!!! (also there is no swimming pool there as advertised... its a jacuzzi!!)

Stayed in the Vallas Apartments for a week in Aug 2010. Our room was big and spacious and very clean. The view from the shared balcony is lovely and there is a small jacuzzi also. The location is good, but walking back from Fira in the heat can be tough as there are lots of steps.
On the day of our arrival we were left sitting around for 4 hours waiting for our room even though we arrived after the check in time. Eventually we were given a different room in another building which was not what we had booked months earlier. We were told the people in our room had gone off for the day and left their luggage there. A member of staff told us we had to wait as they couldnt move their luggage, yet ours was moved on a daily basis when our room was cleaned!.
Breakfast is nice, unfortunately the service does not match the food. Most mornings its a 30 minute wait to be served even a drink!
Overall we did enjoy our stay, the problems we encountered could have been avoided with more competent service.

We sat there waiting for our breakfast but nobody has come for 20 minutes!!! How terrible their service was!
