“so secluded and quaint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

we stayed in these studios a few years ago and forgot to write a reveiw i remembered this when thinking about booking to go again, it was so quiet there apart from the frogs in the stream, i loved the fact that we stepped over a little stream to get into the studio complex, its true these are simple but clean, no thick towels etc but its is not that kind of holiday you get in the real greece. there was amazing walking just turn right out of studios and you are soon in rural unspoilt skiathos the taverna that you first come to when walking up lane from studios was amazing,

Paschalis Studios are charming, a small complex hidden away along a lane and surrounded by trees. There is a small pool with some loungers. No bar which we loved as you can sit with a coffee or glass of wine by pool and not feel you have to buy it from the bar. The studios were clean and if anything was missing the elderly Greek lady would sort it. She lived in a little house nearby. The beaches were great, Kolios was our favourite. It was a 10 min walk to the main road for buses or taxis to Skiathos Town which was charming and a further 5 mins to the beach.

We went to the studios in May 2010 not 2011, 2011 was the only option we could select.

Its taken a while to post this but had a reminder from TripAdvisor and thought it deserved a good review even if a little late.

We were really pleasantly surprised by these apartments . Just what you'd expect from self-catering in Greece but rural and so-ooo clean - bed linen changed twice during our one week stay and towels/bath mats three times. Also a new kettle , a good 'fridge with new ice tray and lovely owners ,who speak little English, but are really welcoming, as is the cleaning lady who certainly does a thorough job every day - except Sunday. As regards the lack of air-conditioning , I understand that you can rent a fan from the owners for 3 Euros a day - but give it a day or two , and you might get acclimatised to the area.
Jimmy's is just a short stroll away ,and if you want plenty of life ,book there ,but if you want peace and quiet , adequate accommodation , a clean ,pleasant pool and the occasional flurry of activity as the owners try to get their turkeys back into their place then we would recommend these studios. As a bonus there are good tavernas along the 5min stroll to the main road. However, as a downside, although we loved the accommodation , we could not say the same of the island itself - much prefer Skopolos ,which has far more soul, or many other Greek islands so we'll not be returning - shame, because the studios were so nice .

Paschalis Studios are ideal for anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing holiday. The rooms are basic but very clean, with excellent maid service. The pool area is also immaculate and set in scenic gardens, and was always extremely quiet- even though we were there in peak season. There is no pool bar (hence why these studios are so quiet!), but there is a very good bar next door (so close in fact it feels like part of Paschalis) which has a lovely atmosphere and is open late.
The only down side to the rooms is that there is no air conditioning and the rooms can get very warm and stuffy at night- so I'd highly recommend that you take a fan! Also you should be aware that, due to the countryside location there can be quite a bit of animal noise (goats, cockrels, dogs etc)- particularly in the early hours of the morning, which I must admit kept me awake a few times- but to me, this just added to the charm of the place!
The walk into the main part of Platanias is very pleasant, with several tavernas along the way- we didn't have a favourite as they were all equally nice and had their individual charm. I would however recommend that you try Mesostrato taverna which is along the main road of Platanias (all white decor)- the food and atmosphere there was fantastic.
As far as resorts go, I must admit that, having been to Greece twelve times, Platanias was my least favourite. The main part is along a very busy main road and consists of only tavernas and a supermarket or two- there really wasn't much to see at all and didn't make for a very nice stroll in the evenings! I was glad that we had only booked a week's holiday because to be honest I would have been bored here if we'd stayed any longer! However the beach is lovely and much quieter than the beach at nearby Koukounaries.
I would highly recommend a visit to Skiathos Town (only a 15 minute bus journey from Platanias and the buses are frequent)- there is much more to see here and there is some beautiful scenary.
All in all, I would highly recommend Paschalis Studios in Platanias- you certainly won't be dissapointed with the accomodation (unless of course you're expecting five star luxury!) but if I were to go back to Skiathos I would rather stay somwhere on the outskirts of Skiathos Town, which I believe is a nicer resort.

I worried reading reviews about this place and as i booked our holiday two days before we departed i was a little sceptical about how good this place was going to be, but prepared for a bit of a hovel- just in case.
We were really pleasantly surprised on arrival though.
It took about fifteen mins of an air conditioned coach ride from the airport to get to the place, which is beautifully secuded and surrounded by trees and wildlife.
We were greeted by 'mama' Paschalis who was very sweet even though she spoke hardly any english.
Our room was room 9 and we were told that this was the only room without Air Con available so i would suggest to try and change your room if this is the room you end up with. As the studios were fully booked on arrival we were stuck with this room. Mama wanted to move us and would have done if we were there two weeks, but alas, it was just the one. All other fans had been rented out and so we were left with the smallest, dustiest looking thing you'd ever seen which cost us 2 euro a night (We were more than happy with this as it is SO WORTH IT when you realise its actually hotter outside than in at some points.
The place was spotlessly cleaned and was cleaned every day at about 12ish. The towels are changed daily and sheets every few days.
I am a real stickler for cleanliness and i must say it even met my high expectations which really surprised me! (Mainly due to the other reviews i read by people clearly expecting a five star hotel)
Everything was very clean if a little worn but i wasnt expecting brand new appliances in this sort of accomodation.
The kitchen was small and again spotless and our washing up was done also on a daily basis (Which we didnt expect)
Only thing i would say (and this is a VERY small gripe) was that we had to buy loo paper twice as the maid forgot to top us up but to be honest it bothered my boyfriend much more than me,
The balconys are fab.
The pool is very clean and tidy. I went for a swim one morning to find 5 turkeys staring at me which was a nice surprise!
I think this place really is idylic. We looked around the island and our place looked like the best to us. Everywhere else looked a bit baron and clinical - this is a family run business and you get that family sense straight away when Mama is shouting at her husband angrily every now and then, notices youre there and smiles sweetly...! it really was just charming. For the price- unbeatable.
The only tips i have for anyone going anywhere in Skiathos:
Buy one of those plug in repelants (can buy these on the island too for about 9 euro which we had to do, but have a feeling cheaper at home) and also the spray stuff for your body. The mozzies are awful at night time and it seems to be places you eat at which are surrounded by plants. COVER YOURSELF IN IT! buy the stuff with DEET in it. works best. And also one of those citronella candles. You can also buy these on the island quite cheap. Use this on your balcony in evenings if sitting out to read. We did all this and still got about 6 bites each. Oh and take that stuff for bites as a precaution. We had to buy some on the second to last day as mine became unbearable and got stung (no pun intended) by the price of 5euro when about £2 at home.
Overal an amazing holiday and we both agreed even though we like to travel to different places we would defo go back. If you are after a peaceful, quiet, secluded holiday - close to the beaches (Three very close- one a ten min walk away others 15 mins) close enough to town (1.60 euro to get to town on local bus-advisable everyone uses) to go and have fun but far enough out to be away from any noise, Fantastic tavernas practically on your doorstep (5min walk away for Pegasus - great food and service) this is the place for you.
Couples this is a must for a romantic getaway.

Not good for families as no facilities for kids and pool not really big enough for kids with inflatables and others trying to enjoy a swim.

We will be back! :) Enjoy!

Room Tip: DO NOT GET ROOM 9 if you can help it! Room 12 looked the best - far end of building and had air con.

Worried all the way to Greece that this was going to be really grotty. It's not. It's an oasis of calm and loveliness. I'd worked out before I went that the other comments probably came from a moron - but they still crept into my brain on the journey over.

If you've just booked a holiday and those other remarks have made you all paranoid - don't be. I mean it is super cheap so don't expect unbound luxury...

What you get:

Small apartment cleaned everyday
Kitchen with all essentials (but not much more)
Small balcony or terrace
Nice biggish pool
Beautiful secluded garden setting
Not many other people
Nice, friendly family owners
No distance to bars and shops but no noise from them.

This holiday felt like a real treat. Skiathos is beautiful and these studios always felt like a little haven every time we came back to them.

Basic, clean accommodation but with a number of problems:
1. The toilet stopcock was faulty so it refilled, noisily, all night.
2. The pool was frequently unavailable just when the children wanted to use it due to ‘cleaning.’
3. The landlady shouted orders at guests from the courtyard to turn lights off, etc. She might be described as a bossy old battleaxe.
4. The maid refused to wait outside the room, or do another room, while I was taking a nap, but barged in to do her clean then and there.
5. The room flooded.
6. There was no air conditioning, which should be standard nowadays.
7. The owners’ family held frequent noisy and abusive arguments, shouting at full volume across the courtyard.
8. Assuming guests didn’t speak Greek, the owners spoke of guests in, shall we say, unflattering terms, also at the top of their lungs.
9. Light bulbs in common areas, which were dark, tiled and thus slippery, mysteriously failed in twos and weren’t changed when guests requested.
10. The Olympic representative immediately sided with the owners in every matter, rather than REPRESENTING the paying customer, i.e., the guest.
11. The plumbing was not earthed sufficiently, so if you put your hand under a running tap while the cooker was on, you got a shock. Coupled with a damp floor, this could be dangerous (see point 5).
12. There was no shower curtain, so stuff in the shower room tended to get wet.

Skiathos is great. Go there, enjoy the beaches—from the exclusive, to the party, to the deserted—but don’t stay at Paschalis studios.
