“Great Hotel - poor internet service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Great Hotel with good facilities and a truly memorable buffet breakfast.

The stay was marred by the 'free' internet which I suspect does not have enough bandwidth to meet the demand.

Despite repeated requests for the system to be serviced we were still unable to get a stable internet connection after 4 days stay. To make matters worse they started by blaming my laptop but then I pointed out that my three colleagues laptops and my iPhone had the same problem.

First impressions were excellant, and the location is stunning.

This hotel does seem to primarily cater for the german speaking guests as there were no obvious signs nor instructions in english.

On entering the room there is a little vestibule and in my room the bathroom was on the left and then through another door was the bedroom.

The bathroom was well decorated and clean, containing a toilet, sink and a shower. The shower was really good and had plenty of space to move around in it. The only criticism for the bathroom is there is limited spac on the shelf for toiletries. for a solo traveller there was enough space, but for two or more it may be difficult to place them where you want them.

The room itself was nicely modern with clean lines, the bed was really comfortable. The two chairs marginally less so. There is no airconditioning, though with one or two windows open it was still pleasent in April. In hotter months it may be more of an issue.

I did not notice the blind mechanism, though as i normally sleep with the curtains pen it was not an issue. however it does show a slight lack of room information available.

The two wardrobes had plenty of space and enough hangers for what I wanted.

There were no in-room tea/coffee making facilities, so just be aware. Thought there is a mini-bar.

The internet in the room is via an ethernet cable which you need to get from reception, but the service does occassinally drop connection.

The other facilities in the hotel are excellant, though to find your way to the pool/saunas is not shown. you have to go through into a changing room then through the door at the other end, again there were no English directions.

The pool was cooling and pleanty big enough for swimming rather than just a splashpool setup. There was a choice of saunas, one at 65 degrees the other closer to 90! as well as a haman.

The views around the hotel are stunning, thought it is a little out of town (5 minutes drive) so if you want any food other than at the hotel be aware of this.

The food at the hotel was good, if a little pricy, and again the menu was in German with no English translation available, other than by the friendly staff.

Room Tip: If you can get a room with the view over the lake, I am sure it would be worth any extra. The lake v...

Beautiful hotel overlooking Lake Constance (Bodensee).Rooms are very modern and well decorated but as in most hotels in Germany there is no air conditioning nor fans.We were here in late August 2011 and it was very hot and with our room facing the lake and the sun it was a little uncomfortable. They do have automatic blinds that shield the room from sunlight but its was still warm.Food was great as was the service and as for the language barrier they do speak English but my wife is of German descent and speaks the language fluently which came in handy. While sitting at the outdoor patio which is very large you can look across the lake and see Switzerland, the hotel even has its own private beach. Many attractions here and in the towns located within 15 minutes from the hotel such as Friedrichshafen where the Zeppelin Museum is located and you can book a trip on a Zeppelin also many local bars, cafes and shops.
Excellent location and shall return!
