“Charming hotel in beautiful town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We had a completely different experience than many of the people reviewing this hotel. We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2013 and loved it. We had a beautiful room (Room 11) with a terrace complete with chairs and table perfect for enjoying an evening drink. The hotel is located below the town, which we appreciated since it was quiet. Breakfast is typical French breakfast of croissants and baguette (both fresh from the bakery in the morning), cafe au lait, orange juice, and a basic buffet of cereal and yogurt. We dealt 99% with the man running the inn (apart from check-in which was by a woman) and he was wonderful. We had a great time speaking French with him and he was very helpful! We would stay here again in an instant if we ever go back to Roussillon.

My husband and I spent two nights here, never again. We were on a bicycle tour in the south of France and it did not stop raining. When we arrived in Roussillon Reves Hotel all we wanted was a hot shower. Wouldn't you know it no hot water. No hot water for the whole stay. When we asked he replied, I don't know why. The bed was uncomfortable and the room cold. The toilet blocked up twice during our stay. Breakfast was pityful, plenty of baguettes but nothing to put on them unless you, liked jam or honey. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. On checking out the owner was in a horrible argument with a customer over the charge of the room which was to include breakfast. I told her she did not miss out on much.

We had visited Roussilon on a previous visit to France so knew it was a beautiful old town, and picked this hotel this year as an overnight stop to the South. The room was very comfortable and clean with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. The hosts were very accommodating and pleasant. Breakfast was relaxed and plentiful - I just wish the weather had been better so that we could have enjoyed the terrace. Lots of restaurants nearby although be prepared to walk up some steep hills.

I signed up on trip advisor just to write this review. Avoid this place, especially if you have children or simply want to avoid stress or confrontation, which the owner dishes out in abundance. Toilets were broken, room was smelly, towels were old. Room was very hot. But those things are (almost) forgivable. The owner is obnoxious. (I wished I had checked the reviews from others on trip advisor travelling with kids before booking this place.) He spoke no English (at least 50% of his clients communicated solely in English to him; indeed, he almost seemed offended at having to make the effort to talk.) He consistently refused to help his guests with some minor (and not so minor requests, e.g., being unable to enter their room). At 10:50 am when I was at reception with two very young kids, but had to check my booking at the next hotel in the small lobby (as internet did not work in the room or anywhere else), he confronted me - quite aggressively - for not having yet vacated the room (check out was 11:00 am!). The town is beautiful. It keeps this guy in business, as he has no idea how to run one. PS Not wanting to distract from my above comments, but there was also an additional - unannounced - 7.5% tax to bill, which also took me by surprise.

This hotel such as the village Roussillon - very nice and cozy. Hotel decorated in a main color of Roussillon - ocher. We stayed for 1 night - we got a large two-rooms apartment for three people with a large terrace where we enjoyed a glass of rose wine while watching the sunset. Very comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Free parking across the road from the hotel. Excellent choice to visit Roussillon and the Gordes area. I Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We had a horrible experience with this establishment. We arrived late but had called called too late to get someone on the phone. When we arrived we learned that they had rerented our 3 rooms for both that night and the following night, even though we had guaranteed with a credit card. We had 6 teen girls with us and they offered no help in finding rooms. A nearby restaurant and another hotel in town helped us find room with a locakl resident, by this time it was well after midnight. The next morning the hotel still would not honor our second night and told us to take it up with Booking.com, whom we had booked through. On returning home we have learned that they charged our card for all 3 rooms for 2 nights, even though they had rerented our rooms to other travellers. The managers are totally unapologetic - horrible!!! The only rude experience we had in our 3 week trip across France.

Booked the room the same day by phone and repeated that it was only for "tonight", which the manager later insisted was "two nights". After an argument that left us feeling very uncomfortable, the manager agreed to bill us for only one night, which is what we had booked. However he was extremely rude, insisting he was right and in the end we left without staying at all and drove away with two small kids and no hotel room, even though we had just paid for one.. Even through the room seemed okay and had a nice terrace and view, our family could not stomach staying at a place that was so rude and confrontational. Avoid at all costs. It seems that they are only interested in money and no interest in creating a pleasant experience. We left Roussillon and found a great place in Lourmarin to the south and felt no regret leaving.
