On previous visits to Paris I have chosen to stay in the centre, however on this ocassion I booked this hotel a short train journey away. When I booked I was worried that the traveling from this hotel to central Paris would restict my holiday, however when I arrived I was pleased to find that the metro and train journey from the Gare Du Nord was easy.
The hotel is just inside zone three and so can be reached using a visite pass or Paris day tickets. The hotel is a short walk (3 - 4 minutes) from the station past some lovely shops and a few local restaurants. However due to its location you get a much better hotel for your money and so for this reason I would recommend this hotel to most people visiting Paris for a few days.
Inside the hotel has a modern lobby area offering free internet access. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly and all areas were clean. The room was of a reasonable size, although some of the furniture was dated but in excellent condition. The room had full ensuite facilities, a television and a kettle although you will need to bring your own tea and milk!. There also was no mini bar for the milk but the free ice machine in the lobby solved this problem. The contenental breakfast was filling with a good selection of fruit, bread, cheese and meat.
The train journey into central Paris is easy with most trains making the journey in under 5 minutes and normally a maximum of one stop. Train tickets are easly obtained at the station although as we wanted to travel around we chose to purchase a combined ticket. This was chosen for ease of use rather than cost and as we hopped on and off busses all day was good value.
I would read the directions given by some of the other reviews as these were helpful in finding the hotel for the first time. It is however sign posted when you get to the station but I did not notice this until after I had found the hotel on the first day!
I know that the walls were thin and some rooms were noisy. All I can say is that I did not notice.
