“A wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2008

My husband and I just returned from a 3-night stay at Park Eden 's La Casita room and really enjoyed it. Monica, Lionel, and Anita could not have been nicer. Park Eden is located in a very quiet, pretty part of town, a really nice place to walk around and enjoy birding. The breakfast was served outside in a lovely garden with very active bird feeders, and the food was filling and delicious. Monica arranged a $85 taxi ride to Panama City (2 hours) with Mr. Shepherd, a very nice man who speaks English very well. She also booked a very nice birding guide for us for 4 hours at pretty Cerro Gaital (a 40-minute trip up a very bumpy road to a cloud forest in a local taxi, $10 roundtrip). If you're interested in birding, I suggest you book a guide for this trip, although you will see birds on your own. Since we didn't have a rental car, we had to eat at Hotel Rincon Vallero for lunch and dinner (a 2-block walk, reasonable prices with pretty good food and a nice patio setting with a fish pond) since all other restaurants were at least a 30-minute walk away. By the way, don't be tempted to use the Internet at Rincon Vallero. It was horribly slow and dropped us. If you're trying to search e-mail or confirm airline reservations, you could easily make things worse for yourselves. You could book a taxi for other restaurants, but there are only 5 taxis in the town, and they're hard to book on the weekend. We wanted to try the food at La Casa de Lourdes, but only 1 taxi is willing to go up the very bad road, and it was broken down that night. It was quite a bit cooler in El Valle than in 95 degree Panama City, a welcome respite. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Wonderful hosts, beautiful and quiet setting, very nice breakfast
  • Disliked — only one convenient restaurant for lunch and dinner

We stayed in a hotel for two days when we were in EL Valle recently. We concluded that we wanted to return to EL Valle for a three to four week stay in Jan. or Feb. 2008. With that in mind, we evaluated lodging sites other than single room hotel facilities.. Our investigation clearly indicated the place to stay for a comfortable long term visit in El Valle is Park Eden. All the facilites are very good. The ground are beautifiul-park-like and located in a very quiet peaceful area of the small village. The owners are fluent in English and very friendly and helpful.

  • Liked — Quiet, friendly atmosphere.
  • Disliked — Nothing specific.

Possibly the best B&B we have ever stayed at.

Exquisite grounds, gorgeous location. Monica and Lionel, our inkeepers were wonderful. The room with a full kitchen was clean and comfortable.

Forget the Pipeline Road birding tour. We saw more birds at breakfast at the Park Eden.

  • Liked — The grounds, staff and accomodation.
  • Disliked — Nothing.

We found this B&B to be excellent. We stayed on two occasions. First time on July 20th and 21th, and the second time was on August 10th,11th,12th,13th on our way back to the city from a month visit to Panama. Monica is very attuned to the wants and needs of her guests. The Honeymoon suite is immaculate and well furnished with a refrigerator and microwave. The delicious outdoor breakfast, the well manicured grounds, and the many birds contribute to a special experience. You will find the weekdays relaxing.

Park Eden was such a delight for me. I have been to many places in Panama and so far, this has been my favorite. simply put, it felt like home there. comfortable, clean and warm with many thoughtful touches.

Travelling as a single woman, I felt safe and at home with Monica and the beautiuful surroundings at Park Eden. i would wake in the mornings with the smell of a delicious breakfast drifting thru my room, then go out to the gardens in abolute peace and begin my day.

At night, I would return and sit out on my private porch with some wine and my good books and plans. I slept so well each night.

Eventually El Valle will be a retirement destination for me, and I will be returning again and again - of course, I am staying at Park Eden .until i build that dream home.

Park Eden has to be one of the best places I've ever stayed - and I travel a great deal. Monica and Lionel Allemon, who run it, have lived in El Valle for many years and have done a wonderful job in creating clean, very well designed guest houses. Park Eden sits in its own several acre garden and is really a beautiful, restful place. The breakfasts are spectacular - beginning with coffee or tea and a huge plate of tropical fruit - and proceeding from there with a variety of other food. The afternoon teas are also very nice. Most important of all, Monica and Lionel are extremely gracious, kind people who are fluent in English and who genuinely make all of their guests feel like they have arrived at their new home. I've stayed there now five or six times and each time is just a true pleasure. They also have bicycles available for guests and can make arrangements for any number of activities in and around El Valle for guests. If you stay there, be sure and ask for a carimanola (a very tasty yucca fritter) with your breakfast!

  • Liked — The graciousness of the hosts and their welcoming attitude
  • Disliked — There isn't really anything I don't like about Park Eden - which is rare for me!

Cannot say enough about our wonderful experience with the Park Eden B&B!! Our host, Monica, was both welcoming and helpful - arranging everything from transportation, to canopy reservations, to bike rentals. Our guesthouse was very clean, spacious, and the surrounding gardens are amazing. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order - eggs, french toast, bacon, fresh fruit - whatever you requested! I cannot remember the last time I was so relaxed - felt like being with family, not strangers! Lino, our driver recommended by Monica, was a delight and very reasonable. Also recommend the restaurant, El Rancho (although it might have a different name on the menu), on the corner off the main road to the Park Eden - unbelievably terrific prawns with garlic & plantains - ate it two nights in a row!! I highly recommend the Park Eden and hope to return soon!!

  • Liked — How lovely both the accomodations and people were!
  • Disliked — loved everthing!
