“a bit of a different experience...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

Our guide book recommended this as a good family place. Hmmm if you want to chase your kids into the goldfish ponds, sure. (Some of the fish are huge and pretty neat.) The menu is WAY to big. The whole place needs updating and felt like it had a layer of grime all over. I am glad we were there at night because we could only feel it and not see it. I was afraid that the birds chirping in the roof above us where we could see their nests would crap on us or our table. A stray dog wandered in and searched for scraps under a bunch of the tables. If you want a different experience, this is for you! I wouldn't change a thing about our night. The waitress was very friendly and efficient and the food was tasty. Pass on the veggies in favor of fries or yucca or even better, the patacones! Creole octopus, sea bass with mushrooms in foil, and sea bass a la macho were hearty and tasty. You need a car to get here or taxi.

“Oldy and Goodie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

Good food but be prepared to wait a bit as they prepare it. Its worth waiting for it. Take a walk in back of the restaurant and you'll see ducks, etc. while you wait; entertains the kids.

“Worth a visit, and what a pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2011

We found this restuarant a few blocks away from the center of town on a foggy Monday night in May right after a rainstorm, around 8:00pm. No one was dining there and we had it all to ourselves, accompanied by the quiet sound of frogs all around us! The food was good, ceviche and corvina nicely done. But the surroundings were unreal, and it was one of our more memorable dinners. It's one of the few places that stays open until 9:00pm in town. The menu selection is good and the wine list was sufficient, and the frogs were the best part (if you like the idea of having nature all around....no bugs either!)

“Excellent local cuisine in a beautiful setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2010

The restaurant is part of the Hotel Rincon Vallero and the setting, just a couple of kilometers from the center of El Valle, is peaceful and beautiful. A koi pond winds through the outside and covered dining area. The ceviche de corvina was the best of the trip, and the garlic jumbo shrimp was fresh and cooked to perfection.
