I came to Casa Marbella to teach a figurative sculpture workshop. Jim and Stephanie made everything possible. They bent over backwards to make everything a success.Santa Teresa is a gem of the world but casa marbella makes it shine. The hotel is so amazing words do not describe it. If you get the chance to come to santa teresa do not hesitate to stay with Jim, Stephanie, Nia, and Milo at Casa Marbella.

We really enjoyed our stay with Casa MaBella! We were welcomed with precise directions emailed to us before we even left our home. At first I was not looking forward to not staying directly on the beach, but I am really glad my husband did the research. We actually chose to stay based on the comments of other travelers on this site. I am so glad for it too! We had the best views and the pool was such a special treat! Watching the sunset from the infinity pool was to die for. The beds were very comfortable and spacious! The AC's were great and they cooled the room within seconds! The customer service was extraordinary! Beyond anything we had ever experienced in the states! Nice young couple, Jim and Stephanie with their daughter Nia, own the hotel, always available and willing to help! Nice family atmosphere with lots of character around the premises. We never actually ate at the restaurant next door because we had a kitchen, but we heard the food was great! The town is growing compared to our last visit so it was nice to be tucked away on the side of the cliff away from the foot traffic, but close enough we could walk to all grocery or restaurants as we wished. Had the time of our lives and we really appreciate it! You should definitely stay there! It's truely a home away from home!

My husband and I spent one lovely night at Casa Marbella during our recent honeymoon. The owners, Jim & Stephanie, went way beyond the call of duty in catering to our every request, including Stephanie's videotaping me doing yoga on their awesome yoga deck, and then actually uploading the footage onto her own personal computer in order to make sure we had backup! Meanwhile, Jim, an expert surfing teacher, took my husband out on a surfing lesson. We felt very at home there. In addition, the restaurant just adjacent to the hotel, Brisas Del Mar, was some of the best food we have eaten, EVER, anywhere, period. The view from both the hotel's relaxing infinity pool (along with awesome outdoor shower) and from the deck of the restaurant is STUNNING. Incredible sunset. We slept great. We hope to return soon and hopefully to lead a yoga retreat there someday.

The perfect place. The pool is amazing with full view over trees and the ocean. The extra yoga/lounge terrace is also wonderful. The small rooms are really nicely designed, the bed was big, but be aware that their only window is to the open air hotel gangway.
The hosts are really nice and forthcoming.
Only thing we didn't like was the smell in the bathroom. Somehow it wasnt properly ventilated, even though there were 2 open windows in it.

I did a lot of research when picking a place for my honeymoon and couldn't have been happier with my choice. I emailed Stephanie before getting there and she was very responsive and offered to arrange a taxi from the airport in Tambor for us. I'd highly recommend flying into Tambor instead of driving from San Jose. It's a lot easier and probably cheaper than driving. Plus if you need to get around once there, ATVs are available to rent.

The first thing we realized when we got there was that we were in a beautiful section of the world that wasn't highly developed. The beaches were great. They aren't shipped in sand, beaches, they were beautiful natural beaches. The roads were dirt for half the trip getting from the airport to the hotel, which made things slightly rough, but it wasn't bad.

The hotel is great. It's well designed. The infinity pool is sweet and they used local rocks to create the shower.

We had the two bedroom on the right side of the pool. It has a private balcony that was great for having breakfast on in the mornings. They provide their guests with dishes and silverware and cooking utensils.

The surfing lesson with Jim was a lot of fun. I wish I had done it earlier in our stay so that I could continue to practice. Stephanie was great at recommending places to go and setting up our horseback ride, ATV rental, and couple's massage.

Overall, a wonderful stay.

My family stayed at Casa Marbella after reviewing a few sites - notably Trip Advisor - and we loved it. This is a get away from the typical resort town - very laid back with surfers in mind. That said, nearby eateries are very good and range from low cost to expensive. This is a great place to hang out for a week. The hosts are attentive and will help you arrange any activity - whether horseback, surfing (Jim is a great instructor for kids and new surfers), snorkeling or ziplining. This is a small boutique hotel with a great pool and lovely porches.

Our experience with Casa MarBella was outstanding from start to finish. We rented the three bedroom condo and a two bedroom suite, which served us well as home base for our weeklong six person surfing excursion. The rooms are large and comfortable and we found them to be clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are large and the showers have great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The housekeeper did a nice job straightening up the rooms each day and she replaced the towels and linens several times during our seven night stay. The views from the hotel are beautiful, especially from the infinity pool, and the pool deck is the perfect place to relax and socialize after hours in the surf. Also, we found Stephanie and Jim to be customer service oriented innkeepers. Stephanie arranged our taxi service to/from Tambor airport, assisted in changing one of our Sansa flights, made several reservations for us at the extraordinary restaurant just up the hill from the hotel, and arranged for on-site massages on the pergola. Jim gave three of us a two hour surfing lesson at a very reasonable rate, provided very helpful guidance about surfing at Playa Carmen, arranged for delivery of ATVs to the hotel, and provided excellent restaurant recommendations. Other than residing on a very steep hill, the hotel could not be better located. In addition to being a short distance from the beach, it sits above the center of town where there are several surf shops, restaurants, grocery stores and an ATM. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was in Santa Teresa – even the local sports bar, Good Vibrations, had good food, cold beer and the NFL playoff games. As with any surfing community, the atmosphere was laid back and very casual. Many of the hotels appear to cater to the backpacker crowd; thus, Casa MarBella seems to be one of the few adult options in Santa Teresa. We highly recommend it.
