“Best place in St. Teresa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2010

If you are headed to Santa Teresa to surf then there is no better place to stay than Casa Azul. From the house it is about a 20 yard walk around the pool (the best place to de salinize after a quick rinse in the outside shower) and through the grass yard to the beach. Every morning I would wake up, open my sliding door and check the surf. If it is good we are in the lineup in under 10 minutes. If its not so good its a quick walk around the corner to get some breakfast at the cafe. Casa Azul's central location makes everything incredibly easy. There is a great bar near by and a few restaurants just a stones throw away.

I travel Costat Rica often and always enjoy Casa Azul. It's clean, quite, with easy access to the restuarants and shops in Santa Teresa, but most importantly it is on the beach, and one of the best surf spots right at your backdoor.

I have stayed at Casa Azul numerous times and the owner and staff have always been very courteous and helpful.

Casa Azul is more of a small bed and breakfast, not a hotel. I love it, and it will always be my first choice when in Santa Teresa.

On the beach, near the center of town, beautiful and private setting. What else do you need to know? The owner and gratious host Richard Sommers was in residence and it was a pleasure to meet him. He has thoughtfully created and meticulusly maintains a natural park like setting for the extensive grounds that separate you from the vibrant local community of Santa Teresa. The beatifully crafted home and guest house are built on the edge of the beach only separated by the private pool and gardens. The architecture is both comtemporary and natural, blending effortlessly into the landscape regardless of its trademark bright "azul" color.

The upper level of the main house is open and spacious with two lagre decks overlooking the breakwaters of the Pacific ocean. The two studio rooms on the ground level are private and each walk out onto the gardens and pool. Beyond the gardens is your private beach access. Across the garden is the guest house that is it's own private oasis in paradise. We stayed in one of the ground level guest rooms and decided to stay for an extra day of our limited ittinerery just because the setting and accomodations were that good. We loved it, highly recommend it to friends and family and we'll stay there again when we return!

Loved this place! Watch the surf lineup from your room, enjoy the sounds of the crashing waves. I rented the small cabana on the property. I recommend checking this place out.

I wanted to go to Costa Rica to relax, surf and re-energise. I wanted a hotel where I could wake up and walk straight into a surf break out the front of the hotel. Casa Azul was it!
I'd go to sleep listening to the Ocean.Very relaxing! Wake up and look from my bed at the surf,go surfing, come in, jump in the pool walk across the road and eat at the local bakery come back dive in the pool, lie in a hotel hammock, read maybe a little nap, surf, jump in the pool, lie in the hammock, read, sleep. Sooooo relaxing!!
It was one of my favourite places I've been.

This is a phenomenal stop if you would like a great surf break, ocean front, pool, walking distance to the town, great privacy, super clean rooms and great service. The owner Richie is kind and professional and understands service. I would highly recommend this place and I plan on revisiting next year.
