The long flat shore allows for slow gentle breaks that are the best in the region for kids to enjoy what they traditionally love doing at the beach. Ie. playing in the sand, jumping waves, surfing or boogie boarding, etc. This beach has soft fine sand with numerous lemon sized rocks scattered along the shoreline. All beaches advise to watch out for rip currents, I'm convinced all beaches at certain times of day on certain breaks all should be watched for a few hours. The several days we spent sun worshipping found nothing terrible to navigate around in just simple fun for our kids ages 5-11, with great beginner surf for all ages. I advise renting from Kina Surf Shop in Santa Teresa. There is a security guard in the shade tree parking area but don't be so naive to think that they weren't hired to be there for a reason, lock your vehicle, and mind your belongings.
