“Lovely experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2014

We spent 5 wonderful days at Florblanca with our 2 grown children. The villa (#10) was amazing and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The location itself is stunningly beautiful. We enjoyed some delicious meals at the restaurant but also ventured out to a local restaurants with great recommendations from the concierge desk. The folks at the concierge desk provided really great information on local attractions/activities, places to eat, grocery stores, pharmacies . . . they were very helpful with everything we needed. We borrowed the hotel bikes to go into town almost every day. It was a lovely, relaxing place to stay, short walking distance to nice swimming beaches (the beach in front of the villas is rocky and not great for swimming) and we hope to go back someday. (If you have problems with bugs bring bug spray - they provide some as well - as the villas are open air.)

Room Tip: Our villa was beautiful but I think all of them are. We didn't have a direct ocean view but wer...

So beautiful….so relaxing….everything we wanted. You need to be in the mood to just hangout together and enjoy (no tv's, no action, etc) but it is a perfect 2nd honeymoon or specially bday getaway. If you like big places with pool side and lots of action NO! There are only a few bungalows (maybe 10?) So you don't go to meet and chat - This is perfectly calming; we did yoga or pilates each morning after a very healthy beautiful breakfast by the ocean…then we went horse riding through the hills and beaches, we took surf lessons, rode the (free) bikes into the little town each day. Great food at the resort! Expensive but so worth it! we split all our meals and enjoyed! The town doesn't have lots to do so don't go if you like touristy, but very local!! The bathrooms are amazing, the accommodation is even better than it looks online - the first night they had a trail of candles leading into our room- it was beautiful. It is outdoor/indoor - and very comfortable. Very good for the price if you are a traveler. We have been many places but really did love this. I think it is the best place in Santa Teresa although I haven't researched - ask the waiters for good restaurants in town because they are extremely variable! The nicest and most accommodating staff I've ever met. I felt at home. The resort is right on the beach walking distance from great waves. The water is warm and the food is some of the best we had in Costa Rica! Laura, Cindy, Cezar, Oscar.... The best staff! I can't think of anything they could do to improve our stay!

Can't wait to go back!

Good luck finding a better place to stay!!

Our honeymoon would not have been the same if we did not stay here. The place was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. I actually made friends with the bartender and he took me and another guest out fishing for the day with one of his friends. The lay out of this place feels secluded and private but it's not far from town and you can't be any closer to the beach.
The walks on the beach were great, just be careful that sand gets hot.
The little casitas make you feel like you are on your own but all you have to do is take a few steps for food, drink, pool, spa, etc

To start, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I had heard of Florablanca's reputation and the rumors of how beautiful this property is, but I was blown away by my actual experience. If you're on the fence with another place to stay, your choice should be here - done. You simply cannot get a better, more beautiful beach resort experience anywhere in Costa Rica. The staff was very professional, well trained, and highly accommodating. Upon checking in, I was informed that I had been upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. It was incredible. a two story villa over looking the sand with large open spaces and windows. An amazing intimate and romantic hideaway for a couple. I enjoyed a refreshing massage at a first class spa, and spent many long walks on the beach, just steps from my villa. I can't wait to return!

Dear Traveler,

Thank you very much for writing your review. It is lovely to know that Florblanca met and exceeded the rumors you heard about the property. We strive to surprise our guests with those unexpected special touches when we can, and it was our pleasure to upgrade you to our honeymoon villa. Great that you enjoyed it, especially the ocean front view.

We hope you will return soon, and when you do, we will be waiting! Sending you a big hello from all of us at Florblanca. Pura Vida and Gracias,

My wife and I explored Costa Rica for the first time and had an amazing stay at Florblanca. Not only were the grounds, accommodations and food/drinks first rate, but the staff were super friendly and wonderfully accommodating as well.

The property is intimate and serene—literally in unspoiled jungle at the edge of the Pacific, tropical flowers, iguanas, howler monkeys and all—with only a handful of wonderfully appointed villas. We had the good fortune to stay in Villa #1, that offers a lovely view of the beach from the open living room. I easily settled into a morning regimen of relaxing in the hammock, listening to monkeys greeting the day and waves crashing on the beach.

Prior to our arrival the concierge team helped me make special arrangements for a horseback ride, as well as an intimate dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. The horseback ride (which is a must, whether you have ridden before or not) was nothing short of amazing. We rode through quiet rolling green fields of grazing cattle, past ancient tropical trees, up a hill overlooking the beach and distant green mountains, through lazy rows of coconut palms, past horses and their newly born colts (only days old) and down a beautiful beach as the sun dropped low over the horizon. My wife also made note that our guide, Fernando, who was very friendly and spoke English well, was quite easy on the eyes.

As if this wasn't enough, upon our return the staff had set up a special table in their poolside dojo where we dined on amazing fresh sushi, drank mojitos, and were brought a delicious sampling of complimentary desserts to celebrate her birthday. We were happy, to say the least.

On our other days at Florblanca we enjoyed the warm sunshine, I surfed the break at Playa Hermosa a few minutes walk down the beach to the north (where the locals were quite friendly) while my wife did yoga, we bicycled into town to enjoy the local cuisine, and we generally ate, drank and were merry.

Having never been to Costa Rica, and only having our many caribbean island vacations to compare against, what surprised us most was just how friendly everyone was. Unlike many tropical destinations, no one in Santa Teresa tried to hard sell us on anything, stuck out their hands for tips, or were really anything other than quite nice. We don't speak much Spanish, other than what we have gleaned from bi-lingual signage at home in the US, but had no language problems whatsoever (the locals were about half ex-pats and half Ticos, and everyone seemed to speak more English than we do Spanish).

All in all I feel like we had a fantastic trip to Costa Rica and a great stay at Florblanca. I think I can confidently say it is the place to stay in Santa Teresa, and you likely won't be disappointed. Our only complaint was not being able to stay long enough.

This really is the beach vacation you spend your life dreaming about !! From lounging in the Pool Pagoda with a a gorgeous view to the Ocean to fresh juice at breakfast with a gorgeous view of the ocean to sipping Caipirhinas at Sunset with Howler monkeys playing in the trees above you -- looking at the gorgeous Ocean !!

My 7 year old son was thrilled when the same waiter remembered his name and said hi to him every day -- this goes beyond service -- this is genuine care !!

The grounds are insanely beautiful, the rooms fantastic and the Ocean exquisite !! But it is the people that make the resort incredible !!
