“Beautiful property, secluded villas, excellent staff!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

To start, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I had heard of Florablanca's reputation and the rumors of how beautiful this property is, but I was blown away by my actual experience. If you're on the fence with another place to stay, your choice should be here - done. You simply cannot get a better, more beautiful beach resort experience anywhere in Costa Rica. The staff was very professional, well trained, and highly accommodating. Upon checking in, I was informed that I had been upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. It was incredible. a two story villa over looking the sand with large open spaces and windows. An amazing intimate and romantic hideaway for a couple. I enjoyed a refreshing massage at a first class spa, and spent many long walks on the beach, just steps from my villa. I can't wait to return!

Dear Traveler,

Thank you very much for writing your review. It is lovely to know that Florblanca met and exceeded the rumors you heard about the property. We strive to surprise our guests with those unexpected special touches when we can, and it was our pleasure to upgrade you to our honeymoon villa. Great that you enjoyed it, especially the ocean front view.

We hope you will return soon, and when you do, we will be waiting! Sending you a big hello from all of us at Florblanca. Pura Vida and Gracias,

Cody Dillon

My wife and I explored Costa Rica for the first time and had an amazing stay at Florblanca. Not only were the grounds, accommodations and food/drinks first rate, but the staff were super friendly and wonderfully accommodating as well.

The property is intimate and serene—literally in unspoiled jungle at the edge of the Pacific, tropical flowers, iguanas, howler monkeys and all—with only a handful of wonderfully appointed villas. We had the good fortune to stay in Villa #1, that offers a lovely view of the beach from the open living room. I easily settled into a morning regimen of relaxing in the hammock, listening to monkeys greeting the day and waves crashing on the beach.

Prior to our arrival the concierge team helped me make special arrangements for a horseback ride, as well as an intimate dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. The horseback ride (which is a must, whether you have ridden before or not) was nothing short of amazing. We rode through quiet rolling green fields of grazing cattle, past ancient tropical trees, up a hill overlooking the beach and distant green mountains, through lazy rows of coconut palms, past horses and their newly born colts (only days old) and down a beautiful beach as the sun dropped low over the horizon. My wife also made note that our guide, Fernando, who was very friendly and spoke English well, was quite easy on the eyes.

As if this wasn't enough, upon our return the staff had set up a special table in their poolside dojo where we dined on amazing fresh sushi, drank mojitos, and were brought a delicious sampling of complimentary desserts to celebrate her birthday. We were happy, to say the least.

On our other days at Florblanca we enjoyed the warm sunshine, I surfed the break at Playa Hermosa a few minutes walk down the beach to the north (where the locals were quite friendly) while my wife did yoga, we bicycled into town to enjoy the local cuisine, and we generally ate, drank and were merry.

Having never been to Costa Rica, and only having our many caribbean island vacations to compare against, what surprised us most was just how friendly everyone was. Unlike many tropical destinations, no one in Santa Teresa tried to hard sell us on anything, stuck out their hands for tips, or were really anything other than quite nice. We don't speak much Spanish, other than what we have gleaned from bi-lingual signage at home in the US, but had no language problems whatsoever (the locals were about half ex-pats and half Ticos, and everyone seemed to speak more English than we do Spanish).

All in all I feel like we had a fantastic trip to Costa Rica and a great stay at Florblanca. I think I can confidently say it is the place to stay in Santa Teresa, and you likely won't be disappointed. Our only complaint was not being able to stay long enough.

This really is the beach vacation you spend your life dreaming about !! From lounging in the Pool Pagoda with a a gorgeous view to the Ocean to fresh juice at breakfast with a gorgeous view of the ocean to sipping Caipirhinas at Sunset with Howler monkeys playing in the trees above you -- looking at the gorgeous Ocean !!

My 7 year old son was thrilled when the same waiter remembered his name and said hi to him every day -- this goes beyond service -- this is genuine care !!

The grounds are insanely beautiful, the rooms fantastic and the Ocean exquisite !! But it is the people that make the resort incredible !!

Truly nothing short of amazing. Beautiful place, people and scenery. We were so fortunate to be able to experience Florblanca. It's reputation proceeded it, and if anything was understated. The restaurant (and particularily the staff) were amazing, the spa massages were epic and the Yoga instructor was world class. Patient, kind, talented and hilarious. The Yoga was a huge factor is how awesome each day was. We saw amazing flora, fauna and creatures each day from our villa and grounds. The beach is beautiful, the view is beautiful, and your a short walk from a great swimming/surfing beach. Pool side is also fantastic, with all sorts of thoughtful touches ( ice water, sunscreen, towel service etc.) A Truly a lovely holiday!

Dear Traveler,

Hola from Florblanca. I truly appreciate you taking the time to write this and express how much you enjoyed your time with us. Our staff is what we feel really sets us apart, and I appreciate you recognizing them and the spirit they bring to Florblanca each day. Stefano is indeed one of the people that make our paradise so special, and yes his sense of humor in each yoga class is incredible. In his very words, "The expression of your face is the expression of your practice. Keep always the sense of humor."

Thank you again for your review. Wishing you all the very best, we look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Pura Vida from the entire Florblanca staff.

Thank you,
Cody Dillon

The place is beautiful, service is great, prices are high, including 10$ charge for town transportation if you don't have your own (or you can take bicycle from the hotel). For surfers - you need to walk 7-10 minutes to first surfing beach.
Breakfast is not included and again pricey.
Beautiful animals and birds all the time. pool is great
All by all - highly recommended!!!! I would love to visit again.

This place was exactly what we needed. Gorgeously designed with real attention to what makes Costa Rica unique. We stayed 3 nights at the Surf House and loved the view of the beach through the trees. We felt transported to another world. Having a fullsize fridge was great and we stocked it from the store down the road. The next two nights we stayed at Villa 4 where we enjoyed a more refined setting in the "jungle". Seeing the howler monkeys cavorting while showering in the open air bathroom was an unforgettable experience. The pool was heaven, uncrowded and relaxing. But the beach in the morning with the tidal pools was one of the highlights. We enjoyed the bathwater temperature of the ocean while scouting amazing fish. The beach just a short walk south was great for swimming and jumping waves. The restaurant was wonderful. A little pricey but that's to be expected. The quality of the food was superb though. Santa Teresa is a cute town near Mal Pais but there isn't much available aside from casual restaurants and surfing. Getting here is quite an adventure too but for me it was absolutely worth it. Loved the yoga with Stefano in the surfside studio. I can't imagine a better place than Florblanca.

Room Tip: The Surf House is very special.

My wife and I visited Florblanca in April 2014. Simply put, we had the best time ever. The staff, the grounds, the food and all the drinks we had were the best. Stefano is a great yoga instructor, we were lucky to have taken his class.

We were also glad to see the rain finally come while we were there. Hopefully, we'll be able to get a chance to come back very soon.
