“Home Sweet Home Florblanca”

Love.

The moment we stepped into Florblanca was like a dream. Florblanca, meaning white flower coveted all over the enchanted wonderland as you enter. Exotic salamanders, monkeys, and little crabs welcome you home in this rainforest haven. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was on the beach, just footsteps away from paradise. The honeymoon suite was covered with little pink petals and each night there were chocolate gems and candles lit when we returned from surfing and flower picking. Read and sketch on your own luxurious hammock (outdoor and indoor) and choose from many books in your downstairs powder room. Or, daydream on your private tundra upstairs with the monkeys and watch the waves watching you and your lover dance the moonlit night away.

Esteban and Cody were delightful catering to our needs whenever needed, welcoming us with ice tea and gave us a detailed tour of the restaurant and gorgeous spa when we arrived. They were so helpful and help made the week perfect. I actually left my top behind and Cody mailed it back to New York! Thank you Florblanca!

This would not have been possible if it weren't for my dear Rob. For the most romantic non-honeymoon honeymoon, incredible birthday surprise, most memorable 3rd date ever.
♥ HSH Florblanca ♥

Love,
Nami and Rob

Words cannot begin to describe the imaginings of FlorBlanca! My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in his beautiful land of enchantment - it was astonishing to say the least! Renewing our vows was a surprise for my husband and the staff at FlorBlanca kept it a secret throughout all of our planning. My husband, who doesn't show emotion often, was overwhelmed with the surprise ceremony and was fighting back the tears and emotions when reciting his vows! Everything about FlorBlanca exceeded our wildest expectations! The service we received began even before we arrived at this incredibly beautiful resort in Costa Rica and it continued throughout our stay. FlorBlanca made us feel so special throughout our entire stay. The privacy between villas makes a person feel as though they are the only ones on a deserted island with a fabulous staff of people to make them comfortable. Cody, the general manager, created the most stunning setting for us to exchange our vows on the property and we are indebted to her for officiating our celebration (my heart still flutters and my eyes still weap when I re-live that special night at FlorBlanca with Cody). Our anniversary dinner followed our vow exchange that evening and was celebrated by the pool in the private dojo - it was an unbelievable reality! The ocean provided the backdrop and the flowers and candles in the dojo provided the magic. Spencer, the chef, took the time to visit us and introduce himself to us. What a great guy! He even went so far as to prepare some special appetizers for us as a surprise which we devoured immediately - they were so delicious! Our concierge took care of our every need and never once made us feel as though we were burdening him - just another terrific person we were fortunate to cross paths with at FlorBlanca. Of course, I could not be writing this review had it not been for the reservations manager making sure that all of our transportation needs were met so that we arrived safely to FlorBlanca. Seriously, the staff at FlorBlanca are truly wonderful people. As for our room, we were in Villa #1. We had an ocean view and it was spectacular. Our villa was perfect and we loved the outdoor bathroom. The howler monkeys were a joy as was all the wildlife. Housekeeping did a phenomenal job at lighting the candles in our villa before we arrived back after a day out; but, nothing surprised us more as when we returned from our anniversary dinner to find that all the candles in our villa were lit, flower petals were designed on our bed to resemble flowers along with an anniversary gift bag! We were so happy. This experience in FlorBlanca ranks at the top of the scale for harmony, experience, pleasure, delight, peace, beauty, happiness and just the sheer authenticity of the staff and surrounding nature...for us, FlorBlanca surpassed our actual wedding and honeymoon in Maui! FlorBlanca does it right and happily goes above and beyond to provide guests with the most unbelievable wonderland experience! If I had to say anything negative about our time at FlorBlanca, it would have to be that we had to say "goodbye" and "see you again soon!" We did not want to leave and will definitely go back. The pure goodness of FlorBlanca is intoxicating and we became better people for having experienced FlorBlanca and the tremendous people who cared about our happiness. Thank you all so much for everything!

We spent 6 days at Florblanca in August 2011. The resort was lovely, quiet and beautifully maintained. The individual villas are secluded and surrounded by greenery. We loved the outdoor rooms, hammock was great. It is the "green season", and thus rained almost every day or overnight for a short time, but that didn't detract from a great stay. Yoga was wonderful, within sight of the ocean. We found the restaurant to be quite good, but rather pricey. Take advantage of the bikes available to go and explore the town and enjoy some great restaurants and ambiance.

Room Tip: Villa 3 was beautiful and secluded

A friend and I spent 7 nights earlier this month at Florblanca and we loved every minute. You can't expect a friendlier, more professional staff from the receptionist and concierge to the cleaning staff to the restaurant folks. It's a gorgeous setting in the Costa Rican rain forest yet right on the Pacific. The beach is a one-minute walk from the spacious, beautiful rooms that are open in most areas so you feel you're in the forest but have all the privacy you need. The food was out of sight. Chef Spencer Graves has got to be one of the finest anywhere. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner or room service, absolutely everything was terrific. We also liked the nearby towns of Malpais and Santa Teresa--friendly people and great restaurants. Even the monkeys and the iguanas were friendly! This is the first time I've ever written a review of a hotel or resort on Trip Advisor (or anywhere else, for that matter) but our experience was so phenomenal that I just had to let the world know!

Room Tip: Any room would have to be just fine, given the superb location and size of the resort, proximity to...

We went there for our honeymoon but were only scheduled to stay one night since we were travelling along the coast. We stayed at half a dozen places and this one was one of our favorites. The resort was amazing, it was designed and landscaped to create a feeling like you were walking through the rain forest and then stumbled upon cabanas and amenities as you toured the grounds. They gave us the beach front cabana with an open living area that was gorgeous, this was attached to an open bathroom and shower so you felt like you were showering out in the jungle even though the area was enclosed, and a fully enclosed bedroom area. The only let down was the restaurant, the food was mediocre and the main waitress was not very friendly which was odd because everyone else there was very friendly. They gave us bad soy sauce with the sushi, needless to say they have a lot of work to do in the restaurant to match the level of luxury and splendor that you feel throughout the hotel. The concierge gave us an incorrect time for the yoga class so we missed it, we didn't mind, but we saw the room and it was also impressive, they give you a free yoga class during our stay and it was a wooden area that looked out into the nature and beach, inspiring! They also had a really decent gym and business area, we used their computers and aside from the lights going out across the town which shut down the computers, they worked fairly well. The best part was the spa. It was definitely Japanese inspired with a numbers of unit built separately out of bamboo and white paper (like a shoji screen) over flowing water, truly amazing. I got one of the best 60-minutes massages I've ever gotten (and I am a frequenter of massages!) so I highly recommend you sign up for a treatment. They have a relaxation room with tea, open shower area and spa area, they out did themselves on this front.

Room Tip: Get the beach front suite, it was definately worth the view!

We just returned home from Florblanca and are already looking at the calendar for a possible return visit. Florblanca is a magical setting in a lush jungle, with the beach just steps in front of you. From the moment we arrived on the gorgeous property, every need was catered to, starting with a refreshing welcome drink. (The hotel had also sent a car to pick us up for the 45-minute drive from the Tambor Airport.) The concierge staff of Marisel and Estefan were exceptional, taking care of our requests for surfing lessons and jungle canopy ziplining, even arranging dinner off property one night. All we had to do was show up for transportation at the arranged time, and the rest was taken care of. The grounds are immaculately kept, with caretakers sweeping walkways clean and retrieving leaves in the pool immediately after the few thunderstorms during our week. The villas are open to the environment, except for the bedrooms, which are air conditioned. The king bedroom is downstairs, 2 beds are in the upstairs bedroom, with an additional day bed. Each bedroom has a bathroom, with showers that afford views of the jungle. I was amused watching the howler monkeys make their way across the treetops while I was showering. Villas offer total privacy from people though. They are peaceful, yet can be an entertaining place to spend part of your day. The restaurant, Nectar, is terrific. Chefs Spencer and Billy are creative and aim to please. We ate every breakfast and lunch, and all but one dinner there all week. Food quality and service are outstanding. Fresh fruit and power smoothies are delicious. Homemade granola, freshly baked banana bread and gluten-free locally made yogurts are a great start to the day. Try the Huevos Rancheros or the Surfer's Burrito if you've got an appetite. Lunches included fresh Costa Rican ceviche, fish tacos, quinoa salads and cheeseburgers for the less adventuresome. Dinners offered fresh seabass, red snapper, tuna, pasta dishes, delicious sushi options, and fabulous soup appetizers. Try the homemade chocolate chip cookie sundaes for dessert. Bartender Trish whips up excellent cocktails - some are unique like the Salsa Brava with homemade hot chili infused vodka, while others are classic like Margaritas. Try a Bellini, too. They're almost too pretty to drink! Every morning but Sunday, Florblanca offers yoga and pilates classes free to hotel guests in a gorgeous, open air setting overlooking the beach. Stefano is the instructor. His 90-minute classes are more than a workout, they are an experience. His approach is very individual and very positive. It is the perfect way to start your day, and it seems like most of the guests participated in the classes, and came back again the next day! The hotel arranged surfing lessons for the family in nearby Playa Hermosa with Adrien, who was a lot of fun and always smiling, but serious about our safety. Adrien also worked with us during the Mal Pais Canopy tour where we went ziplining in the jungle. That is an experience you'll never forget. It's a 20-minute drive south, arranged through the hotel, and takes about two hours, including an instructional session. For the less adventuresome, beach walks are wonderful. My kids enjoyed gently picking up the tiny hermit crabs, while marveling at the other wildlife. Ocean swimming directly in front of Florblanca is discouraged due to rip currents. But a mere 5-minute walk in either direction puts you on a beach perfect for both swimming and watching the many surfers on the waves. The Florblanca pool is picturesque, and is a great place to hang out for lunch or sunbathing. Keep an eye on the ever present iguanas who are eyeing your lunch. They won't intrude on you, but they will keep you company! Or just eat inside Nectar where you can watch them from a better distance. Don't miss the Spa Bambu. Try the Hot Tropics - a coffee, coconut and orange scrub, followed by a hot stone massage from therapist Marisol. Amazing! Perhaps the best part of the day however, was early morning. I enjoyed getting a cup of complimentary costa rican coffee and quietly sitting in one of the chairs overlooking the spectacular beach, contemplating the day ahead. Getting to Florblanca takes some time, but you'll find every minute worth it, just to get you to this corner of paradise.

Room Tip: Most Villas are one bedroom for couples, though 3 are two-bedroom and good for families.

Okay so I'm 18 and came here with my parents and my other two teenage sisters, and this place has it all. For the animal lovers, there are iguanas that walk around the property and there are a few local dogs that trot along the beach. Also, the tidal pools contain a plethora of creatures. For the resort aspect, you are secluded enough to feel as though you are a celebrity, but you can easily enter a few local hotspots within walking distance. My little sister enjoyed the local surfing lesson, and my older sister enjoyed the spa. The resort is english speaking so that was a relief. Also, the sushi at around 4pm on the beach was such a treat! There is also an internet hut, but I advise the first thing you google is how to get the "@" sign on a south american keyboard.
