“Delicious meal..warm and welcoming restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We found Alma, as we are staying nearby. Walking up the dirt track we didn't know what to expect,
Immediately we bumped into our waitress on the walk up there, super friendly. Fairy lights twinkled, and we sat in a cozy corner with cushions, low lighting and a lovely wooden teak interior. We had Piso Sour & a Mojito - very nice but quite expensive! We then shared a great Peruvian Ceviche starter, followed by Thai Fish (Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly) and a juicy Rib-Eye steak. It was delicious, and somewhere to go for a special occasion. The meal was expensive in comparison to most places locally, but i think it was worth it - super food, friendly service, relaxed, and away from everything.

We had a great diner there, away from the road dust and noise. Service was great and it was fairly priced. We will continue to go back!!! Also, we did not stayed there but they have 2 dome houses that are really nice...

Last winter, 2012. Me and and two other friends went to costa rica. ( santa theresa) Stayed at alma, super awesome place. Nice resturant and rooms. Rented a dome, built by the ovner. Had a super vacation. The family at alma made us feel like home. After a whole month, i was pretty shure there was no other place in santa theresa, that had made my surftrip this good.

Thank you Marcela for being such an amazing hostess! We were a group of 4 (2 couples) and we stayed in the small dome for 8 nights. It was really beautiful, however, for 2 couples seeking privacy, you may be better off renting the house out rather than a dome (there's a loft room with no door in the dome, and one small bedroom with a door). Our rooms were cleaned meticulously everyday--it can get dirty quick, Santa Teresa is a pretty dusty place. It was also a real treat to have a 5 star restaurant right at your doorstep! We couldn't afford to eat there every night (it's expensive but soooo good, worth every penny), but it was nice to come home after watching the sunset at the beach and order some truly delicious cocktails and maybe an appetizer or two while we got ready to hit the town. The staff were all very kind and helpful. Apparently there had been a few break in's in the Santa Teresa area while we were there, so Marcela was very diligent and immediately hired 3 security guards to watch the grounds. Alma really is a wonderful place to stay, you can't go wrong.

My boyfriend and I wondered into the restaurant after a wonderful day in Santa Teresa. The waitress seated us quickly and we were given the menus and lists of specials. Almost none of the regular menu was available only Sushi and a few specials.

We ask to order wine and had our arm twisted to order the most expensive bottle. We declined and choose another bottle. The red wine is chilled way to cold. I can see the need to keep red wine in a tropical area at at constant temperature but not so cold as to dull the flavor.

We ordered our meal. The head waiter (Maybe the owner) came up to us and asked if we had a reservation. We told him no and he stomped away and then chewed out the waitress who had seated us.

Several people came in after we ordered and had their meals before us. The head waiter came by after and hour and told us our meal would be there soon. My dish was quite small for the price. 3 large shrimp and a slice of grilled pineapple for about $12 or $14 is quite expensive. My dish was tasty and hot. My boyfriends beef filet was chared and some what chewey. His dish was at least a full plate of food.

When we go back to Santa Teresa we will not be eating at this restaurant.

We found the dome villas here to be the perfect landing spot for our family while visiting St. T. with our toddler. The houses are so beautifully hand built, the accommodations are uniquely designed with mosaic bathrooms, a full kitchen and 2 bedrooms (one a loft) that can sleep up to 5 people. What made our stay all the better was meeting the family and 2 children who own and run this sweet spot. We highly recommend Alma for a warm and unique family vacation spot. Their restaurant is also out of this world delicious! How lucky to walk down your front steps to an exquisite restaurant with excellent fresh foods prepared by a well trained and creative chef. You'll be hard pressed to find a finer meal in St. T! Also, it's directly across the street from the beautiful beach... hard to beat!

Room Tip: Both dome houses they rent are similar and beautiful.

Relaxing & Super fresh place to stay for a resonable price, highly recommended for family or a group of friends. We stayed a couple + two friends, worked perfectly. Kitchen and hang out area outside, good access to the local bars and ocean!
