“Heaven is a place on Earth and it is here at Playa Cielo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

I spent 3 days at Playa Cielo. From the minute we literally stumbled upon this little gem, we were hooked. The Margaritas the best I have ever had, the Mexican food, a nice change from the usual local food (which I also LOVE!) and the delicious array of fine tequilas that Shlomi keeps in his family run bar, are all excellent. Adele and Shlomi showed us such a warm welcome, that I did not want to leave. Their resort is a must see, even if just for sunset drinks at their beach bar/restaurant. This is one of my most favourite places I visited during my 2 weeks in Costa Rica. I am going back to stay in June!

Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. The grounds and accommodations were beautifully designed and well cared for. You can tell that the owners Adele and Sol put a lot of thought and energy into creating this oasis. They were wonderful hosts - always around to advise on a day trip or a grocery store run, but left you alone to enjoy a swing in the hammock or a nap by the pool. The staff were the same way - always present enough so you felt safe and well taken care of but without ever feeling bothered. The location is amazing, with a beautiful beach directly out front and gorgeous sunsets every evening. You can hear the surf all day and night from the bungalow. There are plentiful birds and iguanas to keep you company. We prefer to cook our own food so it was nice to have a kitchen, but the restaurant on the grounds serves good food too. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: There are 2 bungalows out front that have great ocean views and a 3rd nestled slightly in back that...

We were staying up the beach from the Playa Cielo Resort (more on that fiasco in another review!!) and saw Habanero's Restaurant on a walk down the beach.

We decided to try it for dinner that night- am I glad we did! We had had a super disappointing meal the night before, so to enjoy the excellent service and food quality at Habanero's was a real treat. The waitress was friendly and a lot of fun.

Right from the start, we knew we were in for a good meal when we went through the menu choices and the specials. The seafood choices were plentiful and fresh and the chef is very talented.

The hostess came by to see how we were enjoying the meal and was really charming and enthusiastic about their restaurant. She was a delight to chat with.

I can say without reservation it was our best meal in the country. If you are in the Santa Teresa area- you need to try Habanero's!

We also had a look at the resort and would love to come back and stay here some time. It looks like a beautiful spot.

Hotel is new and very comfortable. it's 3 bungalows steps away from the beach. It's one of the few medium priced options. Owners Adele & Sol were friendly, fun and wanted to make sure we had what we needed and were enjoying ourselves. Their staff were pleasant and accommodating. The place is well maintained. The restaurant on the premises, Habaneros, served mighty tasty mexican food, and a relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed Playa Cielo and our new friends, Adele & Sol.

my wife and i stayed at this hotel in jan. 2012.as it was our first visit to c.r. we needed quite a bit of guidance getting to santa tereas and sol was fantastic in helping us.the room was stunning, and as we live in a very quiet area the peacefulness of this property was deeply appreciated.the restaurant on site habanaro was one of the top two in the santa tereasa area and hostess niki was pura vida personified. ask chef gary to show you his specials, the live lobster was great.be sure to see etti for all your excursion needs. she booked us on the zip line and to tortuga island.bring a book to the island as you are stuck there for a couple of hours at the end of the tour.the morning fruit and daily flowers to the room were a wonderful bonus.

Room Tip: there are only three and all are great

We die not stayed at playa cielo but we had a wonderful dinner at Habanero, the restaurant which belongs to Playa Cielo. The service was so nice, the chef came and explained how he prepared the different meals we loved most and the food was excellent, and all this at a very reasonable price. Ah, and I haven't ,entwined the beach side setting yet... I could not imagine how it could get any better. Thanks for this lovely evening!
