“Gorgeous view, great food, great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

We went to Brisas del Mar this past week while staying at Florblanca resort. While Nectar restaurant at the resort is excellent, Trip Advisor research said Brisas was outstanding, and we were not disappointed. After a thrilling taxi ride up a steep hill, we walked into the restaurant, perched with a 180 degree view deck overlooking the Pacific. The sunset was spectacular. The waiter was busy, because it's a popular place. But he stayed very attentive to us and didn't seem to stop running between tables. After explaining the drinks, appetizers and entree menus, we started with a pitcher of the highly recommended "Watermelon Coco Loco" drinks, a refreshing mix of watermelon and rum. Just be careful because it tastes so light and good, the alcohol can sneak up on you. We also tried the "Electric Lemonade", which was a vodka mix with a citrus kick to it. Very good, but Coco Loco was better. Try the buffalo mozzarella and grilled vegetables tower appetizer. Delicious. The fried calamari appetizer was a little thick on the calamari for our taste, but still good. The indian and curry spiced Mahi Mahi was fresh and fabulous. An outstanding dish. We also had the pasta with chorizo and mushrooms, which was delicious. For dessert, the brownie a la mode we shared was fresh from the oven, and the chocolate melted after each bite. Between eating great food and watching the sunset, it was a heavenly evening. FYI.. the staff is very helpful.. as evidenced by another couple at the restaurant whose rental car got stuck trying to back out of the tricky driveway onto the steep incline downhill in the dark after sunset. Our waiter ran out to help and had all the necessary tools to hook his car up to the other, and tow it out of the ditch where it had gotten stuck. Now that deserves one heck of a tip!! Here's my tip: either have an SUV taxi take you up and down the hill, or wear some really sturdy shoes for the steep, guaranteed aerobic walk. All this drama aside, Brisas del Mar is worth the effort. You will remember the entire evening long after the sun has set.

“A delicious meal on top of the mountain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

If you are brave enough to drive up the STEEP and ROCKY hill that leads to Brisas del Mar, you will not be dissappointed! (or you can always walk...)
This restaurant was by far the best meal we had in Costa Rica. The "bocas" to start were delicious. The fried Calamari was amazing - the biggest rings I have ever had and so fresh! I had a pasta in rose sauce that was divine and my boyfriend had a tenderloin that he loved. We would have had dessert, but we were too full!
The prices were very reasonable and on par with the other restaurants we went to.
I'm sure the view is spectacular as well, given the enormous deck they have, but alas it was dark when we went there.
Really terrific.

“Incredible view, wonderful food and creative menu.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2011

Perched on a hillside with sweeping ocean and jungle views, this little gem is quite a treat. It is worth making the steep (some may say treacherous) climb up the hill to experience a Pacific sunset and enjoy a great meal. The fresh caught fish (grouper) was prepared to perfection and I would recommend the seafood mix, especially if you like garlic. The service was above average and remarkably friendly. They have a well stocked bar with some nice liquors and they even have Stella Artois. Very reasonably priced and a great value.

“Great view, great cocktails, and Gisele & Tom spottings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

Thank goodness we found this place!!! Had it not been for a friendly bartender at the beach, my boyfriend and I would likely NOT have found Brisas. You basically need a car, or a ride, to get there...and even when you do it's not the most well-signed restaurant.

BUT - that's also what makes it feel like a hidden gem. not "hidden" truly because it's always busy, but a gem nonetheless. The breathtaking view is amazing, and the cocktails were GREAT...highly recommend the enormous BOWL of electric lemonade --- MMMMMM!!!!

And not only is the view beautiful, but the BEAUTIFUL couple of Gisele Bündchen and Tom Ford were there, fun to see them post-superbowl, sunkissed and obnoxiously in love.

The menu changes often, and the fresh pickings are posted in chalk and presented to you to pick -- everything is delicious and huge portions.

On our two week holiday in February we'd found a lot of the area restaurants on the main drag of Santa Teresa overpriced for what they served. But at Brisas we were AMAZED at the prices given the huge serving sizes - YOU WILL NOT GO HUNGRY HERE!

We ended up going twice, and while we had to wait a few moments for a table, we never waited too long and sitting at the bar isn't torture when they serve fishbowls of cocktails.

NOT ideal for larger groups, but getting a table for two was easy and well worth every minute of wait.

A must-do if you're there!
