“Way more than a B&B, we were welcomed in to Ramon and Vanessa's home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2015

We rented a beautiful, small and charming bungalow from El Rey Patricio for 5 nights. Breakfast was included and was different and delicious every morning. We ate at the attached Tapas restaurant several times because the specials changed with what was fresh and it was so delicious that we wanted to try everything. Vanessa and Ramon were incredible helpful with arranging taxis, surf lessons, ATV rentals, canopy tours and suggesting great places to hang out, eat, swim and enjoy Santa Teresa. Our trip was made special because of them. We would absolutely recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to be a little away from the crunchy surf town that is Santa Teresa and yet still have access to it's charms. We can't wait to come back!

Great place to stay to enjoy the simple wonders of Costa Rica. The tapas is out of this world! The fresh seafood is something to write home about. Vanessa and Ramon are sincere in wanting you to enjoy yourself and will go out of their way to ensure that. We had a toddler with us and we were asked before our arrival if there was anything we needed for her (we had no special requests). They want to make sure you are taken care of. The location was perfect, away from the main strip and other guests. We will be coming back, we can't stop thinking (and raving) about the food Ramon prepared!

We arrived late in the evening after a long, strenuous journey down the dirt roads. Vanessa made us feel welcome at once and even though it was late, they cooked the amazing Paella for us and all was well. We went to sleep to the sound of the waves and woke to sunshine, beach living and a nice breakfast. Our bungalow was situated right at the beach with a view of the waves and palm trees. It was very private and we enjoyed the hammock, the amazing playa Hermosa and the iguana's in the garden. Vanessa was very helpful in showing us where we could find the bank and a souvenir shop in the little town. We also listened to their advice to head on down to the ferry early on a Sunday afternoon. Indeed it was packed and we were glad we had ample time to get on it. This hotel is a great place to chill and enjoy the beach and all I wish is that we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: I did not see the other rooms, but the bungalow was very private and had a nice view.

We had an amazing time in Santa Theresa last July, and a big part of it was because of the warm welcome we received from Ramon and Vanessa.

We're from Montreal, so we wanted to learn how to surf, and playa hermosa is simply stunning! Oh, and Ramon's croquetas de jamon were out of this world :) We had the romantic suite, which was also great.

But, what you really need to know is that Vanessa and Ramon are like we say in french «des personnes d'exception». Rarely will you meet such caring people. We sure hope to see you again one day.

The owners Vanessa and Ramon make your stay so special. From the minute you walk up the steps into this quaint hotel you feel like your home. Vanessa is a wealth of information on where to go. Ramon locked in a ATV for us within minutes of checking into the hotel. The accommodations are small and rustic but with all the great suggestions you are given you won't be spending alot of time in your room. The restaurant has a good wine selection with amazing tapas. Perfect location near Hermosa beach. Walking distance to good yoga and other places to eat. Will definently be back to Santa Teresa and will be certainly be back to see Ramon and Vannesa.

We stayed for 7 nights, for out first ever trip to Costa Rica. We were tired and slightly disorientated from a long journey , Owners Vanessa and Ramon were super helpful to show maps of surrounding areas, recommend things to do, places to eat etc - it made it so easy to adjust!

We ate in the restaurant for Dinner, and the tapas was a perfect start to our honeymoon in CR. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and great staff, and the food was perfect.

We had Romantic room 1, ocean view with hammocks outside, plus outdoor shower to rinse off from the beach. We had everything we needed and a comfortable bed. We didn't have AC, but did have a fan, and it was absolutely fine, even for a hot January.

As we were slightly out of town, we hired a ATV (quad bike to the UK readers), and Vanessa basically organised all of it for us - too easy! Nothing was too much and she took all the stress away that you can have when you are not a native Spanish speaker. We also rented surfboards from the hotel!

The perfect hosts, you made our experience delightful :-)

Thank you Vanessa y Ramon! we hope to see you again!

My wife and I ate at El Rey Patricio Restaurant one evening during a two week get away in Santa Teresa this September. It was off the beaten path away from the hub of Santa Teresa with a lovely view of the ocean from atop of a tiki hut-like atmosphere. We had such a pleasant dining experience that we decided to write a review. We don't typically do that but felt we had to spread the word. We had a seafood Paella that was out of this world. Being Hispanic, my expectations were high. We can say that it was the real thing mon. It was the best Paella we ever had. We were blown away. The atmosphere was fantastic. We spent the evening eating and drinking wine, taking in the experience and getting to know our hosts, Ramon and Vanessa, and Choco, their "adopted" dog, and local "PR" agent, who are very warm and personable. They go out of their way to make sure you feel you are at home. Ramon was a chef in Barcelona and Vanessa was in the fashion industry there. After a stay in Santa Teresa, about a year ago, and experiencing the laid back surfer way of life there, they took a risk and opted to leave behind their busy lives to move and take over El Rey Patricio hotel and restaurant to bring authentic Spanish Tapas to this area. And to surf year round of course. So if you're looking for authentic Spanish tapas and a warm welcome, this is the place to eat in Santa Teresa. They stand out in a beach town that is known for its exceptional restaurants. Say hi to Ramon, Vanessa and Choco. We highly recommend El Rey Patricio experience.
