The hostel is perfectly located close to the beautiful beach. It has nice rooms, very nice owners and is surrounded by many little restaurants. They also rent surfboards and organize surf lessons for a decent prize. I will definitely come back!

What a beautiful hostel in a beautiful little place in the world! Cuesta Arriba was well kept & clean, located across the street from the beach, nearby restaurants, surf shops, grocery stores and everything you could need but still tucked away enough that being on the property was peaceful and quiet, whether lounging by the pool or in the hammocks. The owners and Julie truly care about the guests and their experience and were very helpful with anything you could need. It was a warm welcoming place, the only part I disliked was having to leave!

Cuesta Arriba is one of the cleanest hostels I know of. The pool is beautiful & is the best hang out spot on the property. Rooms are bare, but spotless, spacious & secure. Nice owners too. They have bikes for rent to tour the town. Cuesta Arriba has a great location, requiring only a short walk down a path with monkeys swinging above in the trees. It's located in the northern part of town, which is the best in my opinion... it is close enough to walk to everything, but secluded enough to be nice & chill. They have quiet hours starting at 10 or 11, which is quite nice when you don't wanna party till dawn. Excellent value because they offer dorm, private rooms, and rooms for groups.

Stayed a few nights at this lovely little spot in Santa Teresa, and I would not stay anywhere else. During the off season, the prices are comparable to other hostels (plus maybe $5), but this place is superior by leaps and bounds. Everything is kept meticulously clean (rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, common areas), the pool is a beautiful and relaxing spot to hang out when not surfing or going out, and the staff are simply lovely, helpful people. Most other hostels in town, by comparison, are filthy and ugly and staffed with surly burnouts. I stayed in a private room with AC, a quality mattress/bed and pillows, a table and some cute decorative details for a very reasonable $35/night. The board rentals were also good here, with larger 7'10" boards for relative beginners as well as smaller boards for more advanced surfers. The boards were kept in excellent shape, with good leashes, and were well-waxed. Even better, there is a beach access about fifty feet from the hotel access with a sandy-bottomed consistent shore break which is perfect for multiple levels. I should also note that most of the other folks staying here were quieter and more mature than the usual hostel crowd, which kept everything at a very mellow (though still social) vibe. Lots of good nightlife and food options nearby, ranging from the ever popular Kika bar and La Lora (a dance club) to great cheap eats at the nearby soda Tequicia. Highly recommended. Small note: the shower did not have hot water.. but who needs that here anyway?

Hola Jon.
Thank you for spreading the voice about us. We really apreciate that. We are glad that you had a good time here. It is unfortunate that you didn’t mention to us about the hot water on time, it only took us a few minutes to fix it !!! Hope to see you again in the future.
Sincerely
Martin

Stayed here for four days with the bf just relaxing, swimming, biking around, and eating. I'm so glad I found Cuesta Arriba and we both enjoyed our time there so much. It was during the off season and there were only few travelers which made meeting people easy. The dorm accommodations were comfortable and very clean and we loved the TV room. Couldn't have asked for a better hostel.

A couple weeks ago I stayed for 10 days in Cuesta Arriba and it was really nice. My boyfriend and I shared a private room and it was really clean, with warm shower water and a beautiful bed.
The owner and his wife are really nice and always when we had a question they could help us out. The beach is really close and the best restaurant is right next to the hotel. If there are no waves it is nice to hang out at the pool or do other activities like canopy, isle de tortuga o horseback riding, etc. All this can be booked directly at the hotel and a car picks you up and brings you to the places.
I definitely wana come back some day! :)

Room Tip: The private room, including bathroom is really nice, in front of the windows is a mosquito-net and e...

My husband and I stayed for 11 days at Cuesta Arriba in Santa Teresa. It was a really nice place to stay, well-maintained, clean, swimmingpool, 2 nice dogs and 2 very friendly hosts. We were given helpful advice and recommendations about the surroundings. It is possible to rent surfboards from the hostel with a lot of flexibility. This place is cool to hang out at also when you don't feel like doing much.
