In trying to be extremely fair about my feelings about this resort, I have searched my thoughts, experiences, etc.
The staff! Amazing! Friendly, accommodating, cheerful, etc. There were a few who were less than acceptable. Misty at the front desk seemed to have a problem?! Don't know what it was, but every time I approached her she wasn't representative of the Belizian smile and willingness to be accommodating. A couple of incidences were very notable. First time was when we wanted to rent the golf cart, she shuffled some papers around and told us there weren't any available. She couldn't find the keys; she went outside, amazingly came back in saying it was available! A smile would have gone a long way.
Second time was when we went to check to see what time we should be at the desk for a trip to the airport, again she shuffled around some papers for a while... seemed to be a little lost. When I asked her if we should come back later, she said yes.!
The room and resort. The resort could use uplifting. No, I don't mean to say it was unkept. The grounds crew worked endlessly. I mean the place was showing signs of aging.
For our doors, a rock was necessary to either keep them open or closed. And, yes, the exterior door as well! The sliders to the balcony was broken. The blinds on the windows were broken and needed replacement. slight black on some of the grout in the shower. Handles were loose on the sinks. These fixes were small, but neglected! Can't understand why!
Tiles around the pool were either missing or loose, loose rocks around the pathways.
Oh, and the front reception! OMG! I couldn't believe my eyes! How pedestrian! Certainly like walking into a Red Roof Inn would be an upgrade for this place!
WiFi! Another joke! Although they're working on it when we were there.
There were no phones in any of the rooms...not even to call the front desk! Again, they were working on it when we were there.
For a "RESORT" there weren't enough loungers, chairs, etc for their guests to sit either at the beach nor at the pool. Many times we had to sit in our rooms to wait for a place to sit at the beach... I asked about this many times. When we did get a lounger, they were a little grubby. I would advise the resort to get a few extra covers and change them out for a cleaning.
The kayaks were in need of a little cleaning every night or morning!
A couple of times they had bus guests a the resort from a couple of schools! We were very surprised! Again, there wasn't anything for us to do but spend time in our room! Very expensive vacation to spend time in our room over and over again.
At times there weren't enough tables to sit and eat. Again, back to our room to wait! Despite paying for the inclusive package!
How does a RESORT who knows who is staying there and the head count run out of loungers, tables, chairs, food, etc? How does that happen? It is not the fault of the staff... Management is missing something... a whole lot of somethings!
Very excluded area! Not much to do at all. Once you've been to the town, Hopkins a couple of times, there's no reason to go back. Every trip was at least 1.5 hours to get anywhere.
I only wish I had known in advance so that I could have really weighed my options better.
This RESORT charges everything in USD! Not a value at all for what was delivered. I must say that I expected things to be in Belizean dollars. Would have been able to have a much better review. This place knew how to extract $ from US citizens. I certainly hope the staff was paid accordingly..... somehow I think not.
If this place wants to compete with US$ it needs to really do a lot of sprucing up!
It represented itself to have WIFI... it doesn't... at best it works in the office and perhaps at the dining area! They should not represent themselves to be something they're not!
Again, this is my fair, honest evaluation.
