“Wonderful hosts and staff....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

A friend and I stayed in one of the oceanfront cabanas and it was paradise. I woke up every morning to do yoga on my own private beach. Rita knew exactly when my friend awoke and would bring us a wonderfully fresh assortment of fruits and breads. (Who would have known that a squeeze of lime on a papaya makes it even more succulent?) There was a fridge and coffeemaker in the room.

Both Greg and Rita were friendly and helpful. Alysha (part of the housekeeping staff) seemed to take special care of us during the concert of settlement day. What a wonderful time we had!
We both agreed Hopkins was the highlight of our trip.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hopkins Inn after a week at Caves Branch. We loved our oceanfront cabana! It's literally on the sand and steps from the water. The cabana is very clean and spacious. Rita's breakfasts are great and the coffee maker is in the room (whoo hooo).

Greg pointed us to a couple of restaurants and to a bar. (Thanks, Greg!). We loved every place that was recommended.

The price can't be beat and we are really happy that we chose to stay in Hopkins for our "beach" time in Belize.

My husband and I stayed in one of Rita and Greg's oceanfront cabanas and absolutely loved it. Right on the beach, spacious, clean, and a fantastic location in the village. The breakfasts were terrific--lots of fresh fruit and great bakery items--and Greg and Rita are great hosts!

We really loved Hopkins village and the Inn. Everyone you meet is friendly and welcoming. We had great meals (at Innie's, Yugadah's, Driftwood, and Barracuda) and enjoyed walking and biking around; and when it rained, we had a terrific excuse to hang out on our patio and read or watch the waves.

One note: Hopkins village, at least in low season, is pretty laid-back and quiet. It is much less developed than San Pedro, Caye Caulker, or Placencia. That was its charm, for us. There was definitely some "action" on the weekend, but for those who are looking for lots of choices in nightclubs/discos/late-night partying, Hopkins village may not the best choice (at least not in Sept/Oct).

Staying at the Hopkins Inn was like finding Paradise ! The village of Hopkins is colorful, clean, small, everything that my husband and I wanted after 4 days of activities in the Cayo district. We showed up at around noon and our oceanview cottage was ready, right on the sand, with an unobstructed view of the sea from our verandah, and a walk of about 10 feet from our front door to a lukewarm ocean water! Placencia beach has a lot of algea in the water which makes it a little unpleasant to swim in,not so in Hopkins! The sand is white and as you enter the warm water, you keep walking on sand with no big drops, no rocks, no algea, just sand and water!I looked at my husband and declared "this is Paradise!"Rita brought us breakfast the next morning on our verandah, toast, fruit, and pastries ( the cabana has a coffee pot in it with coffee, so we could have as much as we wanted and as early as we wanted), and we just shared our time between reading, swimming, eating ( we did go the Jaguar reserve) and talking to people; there are several supermarkets in the village, and the cabana having a fridge, we bought water and beer, very handy. The cabana itself is very clean and very tasteful, good size and the bed is comfortable, good job Greg!Hopkins is a delightful village but you do need a car,I don't know if the bus goes there and the road is unpaved.

My family spent 3 nights with Rita and Greg at the fabulous small Hopkins Inn, in the middle of April. the room was incredibly clean the continental breakfast fantastic and the beach clean and beautiful. What a great spot to wind up our trip to Belize, in the centre of Hopkins Village which was a delight to visit. Very friendly people and great restaurants to eat in, inne's, Thongs, and King Cassava were great and the Pizza joint on the beach at the north end of town makes a mean pizza and has a frenetic pace. Forget all of the fancy 5 star place south of town this is real Hopkins the way it should be. Will be back and we will tell everyone. The Duke's(Rita and Greg) helped us arrange the Cockscomb tour we did and they are a great source of info having lived in Hopkins for 18 years. Keep up the great work.

Room Tip: Every room is great and the sea breezes mean no AC which is spectacular. NO bugs as well on the beac...

We stayed at the Hopkins Inn for 5 nights late March 2012 and would recommend the lodging to anyone. The location was perfect - we were able walk to any of the town restaurants or shops that we wanted to go to and the beach was right out your front door. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the showers were great. The beds were also very comfortable and you get a small refrigerator and coffee maker in your room.

Your hosts, Greg and Rita, are very friendly, available and happy to help arrange tours orwith anything you may need. They set up a snorkel tour for us on very short notice and it was amazing. And Rita's daily breakfasts are delicious!

We cannot wait to get back, Hopkins is such a lovely village and a wonderful place to visit. If we do, we will be staying with Greg and Rita.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. Even the ones that are ocean view are still very close to the water and nic...

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on our vacation. We used one day as a relax and catch up our journals on the beach day and the next we went to Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve.
Our cabana was great, after 6 days in the jungle it was amazing to have electricity and a big shower to relax in. We did arrive exhausted and right as it got dark, and Rita was right there to greet us. We dropped our gear and took showers (this was after the horrific Outlook Tower hike at St. Herman's cave) and afterward Rita brought me a bag of ice for my hand that I hit on a limestone shard on said hike.
She's great, very no nonsense and helpful with information for your stay in Hopkins. The maid service was great, breakfast was always on time and delicious.
We didn't experience anything negative during our stay but it really is a B&B on the east edge of a town. We used it as a stop over for Cockscomb and it worked marvelously for that, but there's not much to do. So if you want to read or journal on the beach this is a great place to do so.

Room Tip: Pick a cabana by the beach, we woke up MANY times to barking dogs, roosters and other city like nois...
