“Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2014

Stayed here for 2 nights and wasn,t impressed, cottage 1 cold needs work done in bathroom ,kitchen, attached is another flat plus attic room upstairs which was so noisy kept us awake at night.TV did not work no fireplace so very cold in evenings, she didn,t check her emails so didn,t realize we had paid in full before we had arrived so we had her husband hanging round the car while packing up thinking we were going to do a runner. Would not stay there again Montagu has better BnB to stay in.

Room Tip: Don,t choose cottage 1

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

My partner and I stayed at Connie's Cottages for two nights towards the end of March 2014. We stayed in a lovely, cosy cottage overlooking a lush, green garden. The cottage had a little lounge area with tv (public channels and one or two sport and news channels) and a kitchenette with large table, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster (no stove or oven). The bedroom was large with a king sized bed and separate bathroom with a large shower. A hairdryer and two-point adaptors were also provided. There were fresh flowers throughout the cottage and basic groceries like tea, coffee, salt and sugar in the kitchenette. There is a lot of storage space for longer stays. The bedroom looks out onto a small patio with seating overlooking a lovely green, tranquil garden. We parked our car on the street, which was completely safe.

The cottage is situated almost in the middle of town. It is walking distance from very nice restaurants and shops on the main street, with a Spar convenience store about five blocks away. Our host helped us secure a reservation on the very popular tractor ride up the mountains, a short drive out of town. The tractor ride is followed by a scrumptious potjiekos lunch in the woods. The town is surrounded by wine farms and is also home to a few dried fruit companies, which have factory outlets in town.

One strange thing we encountered was the very active cricket population in the town. The 5cm little bugs seem to be attracted to light and fly very bravely right up to one's face. Not a pest or serious concern, but they can surprise you when you least expect it.

The town and the establishment is definitely worth a visit and very good value for money.

Room Tip: The cottage overlooking the garden is away from the (quiet) street and looks out over the lovely gar...

This was a lovely place to stay, in a beautiful part of the country. Connie and Harold made us feel so welcome and the room we had was fantastic, huge bed, period decor and a jacuzzi ! Never slept so well. Would seriously recommend staying here . Had an evening meal each night at Prestons Pub on the main road, good steaks...

We had the pleasure of staying at Connies on our recent trip. We stumbled into Montagu, liked what we saw and decided to stay the night. Connie was welcoming and friendly and showed us a beautiful apartment at a very reasonable price. The house is in a quiet area just off the main street of the town with several restaurants and cafe's near. Connie is a keen gardener and her property was beautifully manicured. When we checked out the next day, we met her husband who had a great chat with my husband. We left feeling like old friends and I would have no hesitation recommending Connie's Cottages. Montagu is a charming town, and we walked through the local market , bought some souvenirs and had breakfast before leaving town. We visited the hot springs at the other end of the town with a view to having a dip before moving on, but there was loud thumping music being played, so we skipped it and moved on. Thank you Connie and Harold

This was our third year staying at Connie's Cottages and it was as good as ever. It truly is a lovely place. We have cottage No 2 and love to sit on the terrace overlooking the large and beautifully kept garden. The rooms are large and quiet despite the fact it is in the centre of the town within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops. Connie and Harold make you feel so welcome and we look forward to returning again next year.

I took friends to Montagu and they were amazed by the size of the accommodation and value for money. There were fresh roses in the rooms and some homemade rusks to go with coffee. All the restaurants are within walking distance and Connie will help with arrangements and bookings for local attractions.

The gardens are beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Great place to meditate or seeking out romantic nooks.

Connie is a sweet angel.

Room Tip: Cottage #2 walks out on the huge back garden. For the romantics there is a huge spa bath in the Hon...
