Amazing location on the peninsula and so convenient for all points on the Cape including Cape Town and access to the West Coast. Breakfast situation gives wonderful views and the food is plentiful and satisfying. The accommodation is immaculately clean, spacious and relaxing with everything you need. Ian and Margaret are wonderful hosts with a vast knowledge of the area around. We would love to return and take part in one of Ian's bird watching trips.

We just needed a break to unwind, and Makapa Lodge was the perfect place, close to all amenities, but away from all the traffic noise etc. Our accommodation was perfect, clean, and ideal for relaxing. We sat either at a lovely pool, or in the lounge, catching up on our reading. Our hosts, Ian & Margaret were wonderful, and our chats at breakfast time up on the balcony (looking over Noordhoek) were wonderful. We felt as if we had known them a long time. Even though we live in Cape Town, it felt as if we had been away on holiday, and we realised that we don't have to travel far to "switch off".
Makapa Lodge was also an ideal base to visit various places, all close by. We will definetly be back for another relaxing time

Makapa Lodge was fantastic! We had hired a car and found this an ideal central base for our short drives to the beaches at Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Simons Town, Boulders and Cape Point Nature Reserve. On our later than expected arrival on the 5th Januray 2011 we were given a very warm welcome by Ian and Margaret. They very kindly offered to reserve a table for our evening meal at local restaurant "Rioja"(Lovely food, staff and venue!). Ian even guided us to the restaurant in his own car. We had rented two pool side suites as we were travelling with our two teenaged children & we were all were very pleased with our pool side accomodation! The suites "Oakwood" & "The Oregon" were both very attractive, comfortable, clean, fresh and modern with lovely spacious on-suite bathrooms. Each suite had its own seperate beautifully decorated lounge with minibar (reasonable prices) and TV. Outside the beautiful garden, stunning views, sun loungers & solar heated pool were much appreciated by us all (pool was perfect temperature for us). Delicious breakfasts on the balcony were fantastic and the views were breathtaking! Our teenaged daughter is on a strict Gluten free diet and Margaret and Ian very carefully prepared breakfast for her making sure to check all ingredients with us. They had even bought Gluten Free bread especially for her! Ian & Margarets were very kind and helpful & we rate their service excellent. They both really went out of their way to ensure that our stay was perfect! We will definately recommend Makapa lodge to our friends and family!

my stay at Makapa, at The Nest, was most pleasant and peaceful - Ian and Margaret couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. Wonderful views of the ocean and very comfortable accommodation. I'll definitely be back!

I was only able to stay at Makapa Lodge for one night in May, 2010, though I wish I had been able to stay for longer! I was in a poolside suite, and it was amazing! The entire suite was tastefully decorated, the bathroom was huge, and the bed was comfortable. Even though it wasn't warm enough to swim, I loved being able to walk out of the bedroom to the pool. The view was amazing, especially the sunset!

Ian and Margaret were very pleasant, and the breakfast was delicious. After breakfast, Ian graciously drove me to the equestrian center where I had a horseback riding excursion planned. I would definitely recommend Makapa Lodge to friends and family!

Note that there are two friendly dogs in the property, though Ian and Margaret will keep them secluded from you if you don't wish to interact with them.

Only a short weekend breakaway for our wedding anniversary, but worth it (we were in the garden room). Very quiet and cosy little guest house lodge, very friendly service, very clean and quality finishes (especially the bathroom).
We expected to have a full selection of satellite tv channels in the room (and a bigger tv) for the price, especially because of the relaxed atmosphere and just wanting to chill in front of the tv for a while (the weather was rainy too).
Other than that, we will definately recommend this guest house to anyone!

Nice B&B, high quality rooms & service, very silent, no noise, awsome and scenic environment, kind hosts. We felt safe all the time. Everything inside the rooms looked very nice and neat.

A very nice restaurant called Rioja near by.

Everything was fine, our recommodation for that B&B.

Thank you !
