“The perfect honeymoon destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

My wife and I traveled to St. Barth's from June 10-16 2012. Though this was just at the start of the low season, here were the highlights of traveling at this time: bugs were not as bad as I expected, we only saw a handful of mosquitoes; obviously nightly hotel prices are cheaper; very easy to get reservations at any restaurant on any night; afternoon high temps weren't too hot yet, definitely bearable; and with their being a lot less tourists on the island, all the hotels and restaurants treat you like celebrities. And this was definitely our experience at Le Toiny! Getting to St Barth's, we had some travel difficulties -- a delayed flight into Miami made us miss our connection to St. Maarten. We were put on a different airline that arrived into St. Maarten an hour later, but then this would make us miss our flight on St. Barth's Commuter. But one call to the concierge Fabian at Le Toiny and everything was handled! And what makes that even more impressive and appreciated was that it was a Sunday and the customer service desk at St. Barth's Commuter was closed. Our driver, David, was extremely helpful, he went far and above what you should expect from a driver -- he had lots of helpful tips for us about the island, and even showed us how to use everything in the room. The massage we had as part of our package was heavenly -- my wife said it was the best massage she's ever had, and I agree! The Smart Car we had included in our package was fun and interesting as well, definitely added to the experience. Just beware that they have a hard time getting up all the steep hills. They fit really well on the narrow roads though. We stayed in Villa 5, and it was perfect. It was close to the end of the property, so very private and very close to the nature preserve hillside where we could watch goats hop around the hills. Of course, the red flag you can put up at your villa gate ensures your privacy as well. We did get a call twice from room service during afternoon naps when our flag was up to ask what time they could turn down the room, that was the only negative comment I had about the entire week and it wasn't a major issue. The pool was always clean and a very comfortable, not too hot and not too cold temperature. Breakfast every morning brought to your pool deck was a wonderfully relaxing way to start the day and the homemade jams were delicious! And the room was always turned down when you're away for dinner, so that was always nice to return to. The iPod dock in the room, called a "George", had a fun and relaxing selection of music -- we had that on the whole week, never once turned on the TV. The restaurant, Le Gaiac, was amazing -- the nicest dinner we had the whole week. We took pictures of the food it was so beautifully presented. Other restaurants we recommend include Bonito and Eden Rocks. The best cocktails we had all week were at Bonito.

Save yourself the hassle of getting a shady taxi through the slums of St. Maarten though by taking the St. Barth's Commuter plane and avoiding the ferry boats. Our return trip to St. Maarten on the Voyager shuttle was delayed by an hour, the cabin was not air conditioned as advertised, and then there we waited for a cab to arrive for over an hour at the marina. The cab wound up being an non-air conditioned minivan and we arrived at the St. Maarten airport only 45 minutes before our flight, so we very nearly missed it. The St. Barth's Commuter airline was the way to go -- prices are comparable as well between the flight and the ferry.

To wrap it up, we plan to return to Le Toiny in the future for maybe our 5 or 10 year anniversary -- so there's no greater compliment or review than saying we can't wait to go back in the future. Thanks again to all the hotel staff, you made our honeymoon truly lovely!

Room Tip: Villa 5 and 6 are all the way on the end of the property, so they are the most private.

My wife and I stayed here last year for our honeymoon and we still can't get over how amazing the island of st Bart's is and how great le toiny was. You can go online and see how amazing the hotel is but what you can't see online is how great the service and staff are. After we checked out and were being driven to the airport the hotel called our driver and informed him that I had left my carry on (which had my laptop and passport in it) in the room. Another member of the staff quickly drove it to the airport so we could still make our flight. We visited a lot of the other hotels (le christopher, eden rock, etc) on the island while we stayed there and they were nice but none came close to le toiny in our minds.

I highly recommend this island as well as le toiny.

My boyfriend booked a surprise trip here and let's just say he's still reaping the benefits! Our room had a private pool overlooking the ocean which made us feel like royalty. The decor is so beautiful and chic. I got a massage and while there isn't a spa here per se (it is more just a room), the massage was divine. I can still smell the oil they used. The dining experience is top notch in the hotel. Be sure to order the pasta they make in front of you in a big bowl of cheese! The staff was so sweet and welcoming. We are planning our next trip back. Only tell your closest friends of this awesome spot!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a private pool! Totally worth it.

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at Le Toiny for our anniversary - it was absolutely incredible. The villas are incredibly private and luxurious. Having a private full pool overlooking the ocean made for a truly special experience. The service was absolutely first rate. We felt like the staff bent over backwards to help us with anything we needed from the time we stepped off the plane until we left three days later. The restaurant "Le Gaiac" was up there with the best restaurants in France (with an absolutely spectacular view). The staff at the restaurant was also first rate. If you want a "scene" at your hotel or want to walk out onto a sandy beach from your room, pick another hotel. The beach at Le Toiny is a 5-10 minute walk and while it is pretty and secluded, it isn't the top beach on the island. It can also be windy on that side of the island which can make swimming dangerous. The property is very quiet and tranquil and is the type of place to go to get away from it all - if you are looking for a bar scene or anything like that, you'll be disappointed. If, however, you are looking for peace and quiet and a place to get away from it all with impeccable service and incredible luxury, Le Toiny is the perfect option. Bottom line - Le Toiny was one of the best hotels I have ever been to - I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be going back.

Having stayed in the finest hotels and villa's, the experince my wife and I had during our recent stay tops the list. From the restaurant "Le Gaiac" fabulous cuisine down to the villa room with heated pool , this is a must for any discriminating traveler.Add to this the views from each villa which are totally private of the hillside and ocean, it seemed like we were the only ones on the island with our own private wait staff. This is a must for anyones "bucket list".

Spent 3 nights at Le Toiny back in March and it was wonderful. The suite and the private pool were extremely comfortable and had simple luxury. The shower was a bit weak for my taste but the bathtub was fantastic. The bed and sitting area were fantastic. The fridge was well stocked and the breakfast was delicious. Great view on the back deck while in the pool. Gracious, helpful staff as well. Would love to go back. Had a massage in the room which was wonderful.

My wife and I stayed at Le Toiny during our first visit to St. Barths. We had considered other hotels because we do enjoy the beach and the opportunity for a swim before breakfast or late in the day. But we chose Le Toiny because of the beautiful villa suites that it offers. The space, amenities, view, and especially the private pool that each suite offers are outstanding. Breakfast served on your own terrace each day is wonderful. The public spaces are quite spectacular with their views of the sea. Peace and quiet prevail throughout the property with just 17 suites and the fact that many guests travel around the island during the day. Even at night, when the restaurant is busy, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The entire staff is excellent and you feel that you are the only guest there.

We traveled around the island each day visiting beaches, hiking, snorkeling, etc. but it was great looking forward to our return to the peace and quiet of Le Toiny each afternoon. We enjoyed the driving, but Le Toiny might not be the right place for a traveler who wouldn't be able to navigate the island by car.

We enjoyed the hike around Toiny Point and were able to cool off with a swim at Le Toiny's beach afterwards because the water was quite calm during our stay. The beach itself is a beautiful tropical setting.

Our stay at Le Toiny was wonderful and was a memorable experience.

Room Tip: We requested the most private villa possible and were given #1. It was a bit lower on the side of th...
