My husband and I spent a weekend here for my birthday and our wedding anniversary. it was undoubtably a beautiful location. So picturesque and scenic. We purposefully chose a couples only resort as we wanted time away from noise with some relaxation and this we definetly got. We snorkelled unlimitedly- we practically had the beach and pool to our selves on most of the days we were there.
The staff we friendly, often calling us by first name basis and made adjustments for our special dietary needs which was much appreciated.
Unfortunately we did not find the experience a 5 star one. We arrived late in the evening and were shown to our room by a security guard. We found this odd that reception was not manned at this time. The menu probably had enough variety to last a few days there and certainly was very well presented but the taste was not up to a 5 star quality and the pricing extortionate. The pancakes were very Bready and pastries hard. The peppercorn sauce with chicken I ordered tasted simply of strong cheese. Also room service was only available till 21:30 pm and being used to late nights we found this a little disappointing. The rooms were well presented but we often woke to dead bugs on the floor and we were always short of soap- given only one soap for both shower and wash basin on both nights we stayed. The room also was not " tidied and made neat" as one would expect from a 5 star hotel. We were thrilled to see a pool bar but unfortunately this was not in working order and we had to dial the main bar to have someone send drinks over.
We were also advised we would be receiving complimentary sunset cruise- but this never happened as the boat was not in working order.
Although the staff in the dining hall were lovely- so pleasant and attentive, little could be said for the reception staff. We wanted to book zip lining and we we told it would be booked and we would be gotten back to about our timing. This was not done. More importantly we were given a different price as to the one originally quoted when we finally approached the desk. On check out we didn't receive the customary pleasantries you would expect but just charged an extra 3.5 percent for using a debit card ( not credit card) without being informed of this.
No doubt this is a beautiful spot to vists- peaceful and so relaxing but having travelled around the world with lots of experience in 5 star resorts, this has a lot to catch up to.
