5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2011

We stayed at the Havannah for 6 nights and loved every second of it. I was thrilled to discover that the pictures, which are breathtaking, don’t do justice to the wonderful views of the beach and the gorgeous blue waters. We were initially worried that the holiday would cost a lot, but it was worth every penny – we had free delicious breakfasts, free use of snorkels, flippers, kayaks etc, free sunset cruises over the harbour, free transfers to go around Port Vila and the most tranquil and beautiful setting. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, much like the Ni Vanuatu who smile to everyone as if they are an old friend. Particular mention to Johnathan though all the staff were lovely.

We had the pool view room and I would recommend it. The pool is shared with four other huts, but we were never in the pool with more than one other couple and the majority of the time had the pool all to ourselves. The huts are almost on the beach and have fantastic views. The snorkelling was wonderful – literally right off the beach and you could see so much – starfish, clownfish, seahorses etc - as the water was so clear.

The only slight downside was the fact that because the location was so far from Port Vila you had to eat at the resort – there was a cheaper bar snacks style menu for when three courses would be too much but the choice was a little limiting. However, the location being where it was meant that the Havannah was tranquil and unspoilt so it is difficult to see this as too much of a negative.

Overall we had an amazing time and wish we were back there! Tankyu tumas!

Room Tip: Pool side villas were the best.

This review is well overdue as we stayed at The Havannah 9 months ago... and I'm still wishing I could go back! We had our weddingmoon (wedding and honeymoon combined) at The Havannah and it was just amazing. We stayed in a deluxe waterfront and the view was totally mesmerising! The room was spacious and well laid out, the bathroom was super-spacious and I loved the seperate toilet and shower/bath areas. The deck with plunge pool and outdoor day bed was just luxurious. The staff are all so friendly and happy that you can't help but be happy as well! The only small negative for us was that the location is very isolated and means that you pretty much have to eat at the resort. The restaurant is good, however there were a few interesting flavour combinations (steak with chocolate sauce!) Having said that, the chef designed and cooked our 5-course wedding night dinner especially for us and it was definately the most amazing meal we have ever had! In summary, The Havannah is totally luxurious, has an amazing view and the local staff are fantastic.

We stayed for 4 days after the hotel had overbooked and decided we still had a room, the villas are really nice and modern , pool area is great. There was no Internet and limited TV contrary to what was said to be provided. The service was slow staff not interested in assisting at all referring every thing to manager. Food was burnt at each meal from breakfast to dinner all burnt such a shame. Other guests had same complaints waiting 40 min for a coffee when only 12 in restaurant . We were told buffet breakie yet there was no buffet. Very clean though .

Easily the best resort in Vanuatu for those who want to relax, eat and sleep in beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Resort is "kids free" which is a real bonus. There were several couples there who had left their kids at home and come to get a week of peace. We stayed in a Lagoon pool bungalow (middle category) and were initially disappointed that the Beachfront bungalows were full, but on reflection, we would stay in a lagoon bungalow again as it had a fantastic view of the ocean and access to a lovely swimming pool which is only shared by about 5 bungalows.
We only stayed 2 nights, which is way too short. I would recommend at least 4 nights but more if you can afford it.
One other reviewer wrote that it is 40 minutes to town, but road has now been sealed and it is around 20 minutes to town. Hotel has a shuttle bus that goes to town if you need your fix of shopping or would like to dine out for lunch. You could also hire a car for a couple of days and have a good look around the island.
Menu at resort is a little limited if you're having a longer stay, so I would recommend perhaps eating out a couple of times during your stay. There are plenty of choices in Port Vila. For the quality of food, prices were comparable with restaurants in Port Vila.
We loved the fact that there was a wide choice of places to dine; either in the restaurant, on the jetty, under a beautiful tree or on the beach with a bonfire, or in your room if you so desire. Beautiful resort, fantastic managers. Hope I am lucky enough to stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't be put off if b/front full. Book lagoon.

We stayed four nights at this resort after seventeen days in the Solomon Islands where the facilities for tourism are basic to say the least. Havannah was to us like an oasis in a desert. Air-conditioning that worked, a bath and hot water and plenty of clean fluffy towels were much appreciated. This is a top end boutique hotel where everything works. It is however, for Europeans anyway, very expensive. This may not be the case for Austailians where the dollar is strong. The very marginal downside if there is one, is that you could be anywhere in the world and miss out on the Vanuatu experience if you go there and don't get out and about.

Just spent 5 days at the Havannah and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Nothing was too much trouble for the smiling staff and the chef, Tyrone, delivered wonderful meals from the menu and to order, For a quiet getaway with someone special it was simply perfect.
