5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Stayed here in January 2012. Fabulous views, friendly staff and such quirky accommodation! Round door, curtains made of hessian, all add to the super atmosphere. Wait till you see the other accommodation available on site too! We went to the nearby Waitomo glow worm caves too - a must do when you're in the area. Enjoy!

We stayed here October 2010 what a night to arrive wild storms and torrential rain. After picking up the key at reception we where accompanied to out Villa by a cow and her calf (I kid you not) that spent most of the evening looking in through the round windows the kids loved it. Beds are made by New Zealand's black dog furniture and our 2 girls slept in the oversized bunk beds which made them look hobbit sized. Open our sack curtains in the morning to a glorious rainbow over what could've been the shire - fabulous !!!

What a great little place. The owner is a real character and does a one man show.(plus a bull, sheep, chicken and dog)
You can stay in a hobbit style room or inside a plane, boat or train. Funky as!!!!

We stayed at the Hobbit motel on the 6th of September. Some people only dream and others like Billy Black put it into action what a concept. Our son was over the moon with the hobbit room. it was fantastic so realistic. Spacious clean and well appointed and a must for any lover of the Lord of the Rings movie. Well done and thanks for our stay.

Awesome!! Is all we can say. Booked out the whole venue for our wedding. We stayed on the ship ourselves, was nice to have a spa the morning after. So relaxing . The food and the staff were amazing. Clean, tidy and unique. Friends and family from Canada had never stayed in anything so different, and loved it! Everyone wants us to have our anniversaries there so they can go back. Highly recommend this venue 10 out of 10. Kia kaha

Just read the article about staying in the plane.....what a load of bollocks...! It was clean, tidy, facilities good and unique. No problem with sheets, kettle was clean and plastic (no rust). Perhaps these people expected 6 star and room service.

Room Tip: All rooms are quirky so take your pick.

We stayed in the hobbit one unit for one night. The room was very spacious, didn't realize the room had two bedrooms until we got there. Very modern and had a great bed. We missed out on seeing the show as our rafting trip was on at the same time. Was cool seeing the pig roaming round. Trees around the unit were a bit over grown compared to the pictures, which made the unit a little cold. Had a great heater though! Would definitely return and have a look at staying in one of the other unique units.
