“Hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Dined here for our wedding anniversary and my birthday celebrations and wow what a find! The food and the service were outstanding. The staff could not do enough to help us make our experience fabulous and the food was outstanding. We started with the selection of dips and cous cous salad and then moved onto crispy skin duck (absolute best we have ever eaten - kudos to Donna Hollis head chef) and the most tender veal I have ever eaten. The food was so good and so filling we had to go back the next day to finish our experience. Breakfast was perfect and later in the day we ventured back again finally for dessert. Each time the service was prompt, courteous and delivered with a smile. I want to keep this place my secret but no one should be deprived of food this good!!

“Nice wine, rude restaurant service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We had planned for a nice treat at Ridgeview restaurant as part of the food and wine month. We started with a nice wine tasting - we really like the semillon and verdelho.
Unfortunately, our pleasant experience in the cellar door was short lived. We were the second table to be seated in the restaurant (there were 3 of us, and only one other diner eating on his own). Our waitress appeared very uninterested in customer service - even to the point of humphing at our request for appetiters while we were deciding on what to order for mains! She did this less than two feet away from our table. To add to this, we ordered two glasses of wine and a non-alcoholic beverage while we were waiting for our mains - she seemed less than impressed at our designated driver not ordering a glass of wine. We asked at this time for the heater to be turned on too - this simple request again appeared to be too much hassle.
We became a bit concerned about the food when we overheard the chefs saying that it was the first time they had tried a recipe, and we saw two of the kitchen staff looking up something on their phones.
After ordering garlic bread and some olives, we were served cheese bread without the slightest trace of garlic on it.
Mains - we ordered the special tasting plate - it was well presented, the greek style lamb was tasty and the caramalised onions were great.
When our friends from Sydney called to catch up, we decided against inviting them to join us for lunch based on the previous interactions with the waitress. We instead suggested some wine tasting at the cellar door - and enjoyed our time there.
Will we return?? Not to eat. To buy wine?? More than likely.
Don't bother booking - we've eaten here twice and it's been empty both times.

“Meze menu is the best!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

The service was great and friendly. We selected the meze menu with accompanying wine. The wines selection was excellently matched to the food. A few of the dishes did come out lukewarm. Had all the dishes not been lukewarm, I would have rated this restaurant 5/5. Overall, it was a great dining experience, with great food, friendly and prompt service and subtle ambiance.

“Outstanding Wedding Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

I got married in the hunter in April, and we held our reception at Ridgeview. The food was phenomenal! Great outlook over the vineyards with a relaxing atmosphere! Many compliments were given by guests that attended saying it was by far the best wedding food they have ever eaten. Thank you a thousand times over Donna! You were a pleasure to deal with!!!!
