“Peaceful and good sleep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2011

We stayed two nights here and it was a very good experience. The house is really on a hilltop with good view. The night is very quiet and we really get nice good sleep. The location is great as it's only a short drive to all the vineyards and winery along Broke road. Very nice and friendly host. It is the kind of accommodation you would like to stay when you are in country.

My wife and I stayed here over the weekend and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. The room was basic (as you would expect for a B&B) but clean and comfortable. Margaret (the owner) was extremely helpful and friendly.

Whilst probably not a big deal for most people it's worth noting that the driveway is about 1.5km long which makes for a nice isolated feel and a very quite location if that's what you're after.

For those on a budget and who enjoy a B&B style experience I would recommend this place.

It was actually July 2009 when we stayed here. My then-boyfriend (now husband) took me up to the hunter for my brithday and the whole weekend was a surprise.
Hill Top is a little way out of the heart of Pokolbin and LOvedale, but there are still plenty of the smaller boutique wineries around Rothbury, including Wandin Valley, just down the road.

We also booked in for a horse ride on the property, which was a lot of fun.

We had a look around at some wineries in the afternoon, and picked up some local bottles, and a tasting plate from the cheese room in the McGuigans complex - which had some delicious muscatels, strawberries, quince paste and of course some cheese. We took these back to hiltop and lazed about in front of the fire. There were a few other couples, and families there also, but plenty of room to keep to your self, or share a game of pool if you want. It was a lovely, very relaxing weekend.

Breakfast was homeade bacon and eggs, and had that rustic feel. The host was charming and had her daughter on hand, who was just as pleasant and happy to help out.

Rooms are private and comfy - it was a while ago but I sitll remember having a really great nights sleep. We had a room in the main house, as there were a number of bookings that weekend, but the ensuite rooms and vilas look extra cosy!
Shared bathroom was a bit dated, but very clean and well kept. Fluffy, lucurious towels made a difference!

Would be ideal for a group get together, or romantic getaways.
