“Second Time around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We recently visited the resort.I am not sure if I would return or not.Location is good but when we arrived we were confronted with following issues.
1. The outside lights would not work
2.No BBQ tongs
3.The stove only hade two speeds,on and off. (not good for simmering)
4.The water is brown.(all water including drinking water)
5.The restaurant sold one thing only.(pizza)
6.The local store had no fresh milk and only a very limited supply of anything.
In general the management needs a bomb under them. Not good enough when you are paying $300.00 to $400.00 per night.

My partner and I had a quick trip before Christmas and were spoilt with an array of wildlife, I caught my first flathead, we were merely 8 metres off the waterfront. By far the most relaxing holiday I have had, the staff were so friendly and did everything they could to make life just cruisey. Our holiday was so perfect my partner proposed at myall shores. It's not the Hilton in Sydney but you aren't charged that much either. It's the perfect place to wind down after a crazy year. We left on Christmas Eve just as the place started to pack out but were really thrilled with how great the guys made it. Well done on the pizza too, delicious!

The friendly, enthusiastic, hard working and willing staff provided all the help and assistance we need during our stay. Sure, the cutlery was mismatched (who cares?), and we were missing a mop to begin with, but this was dealt with immediately and sufficiently. We really did feel like welcome guests at the resort and it met all our expectations. There were some renos taking place in one of the amenity blocks but it didn't affect us, but my advice would be to phone and check if you have any questions. Enjoy Myall Shores, it's a wonderful location that is certainly "on the mend" after a period of neglect now the new management is in place.

Room Tip: Discuss your needs and expectations with the staff before you go.

After all of the hype of the website when we booked our 4-day stay in August we were one of only 2-3 other cabin guests and a sprinkle of campers.

No-one informed us when we booked of the huge reduction in cabin numbers and the change of emphasis of the resort to focus more on campers.

The cabin removal works and the virtually deserted resort meant that we were paying 4+ star rates for a -3 star stay.

No laundry facilities now and the pool/spa area are attached to the cafe area a long way away from the accommodation.

Very poor communication about the changes when the website promoted it as a great place to stay.

My family had to been to Myall Shores approximately 4 years ago and had a wonderful time! We stayed in a Garden Villa and thought it was beautiful.

This October long weekend we decided to get away and enjoy the Lakes again - this time upgrading to a Lake Front villa - worst mistake ever! The villa was grubby, cutlery and glasses dirty....everything had to be rewashed, the floor sticky, the blankets on the beds had holes in them and the pillows......well we went out and bought a new one for each of us at the local $2 shop!

It certainly wasn't worth the extra money we paid this time and we were very disappointed in the customer service. They were clearly understaffed at the restaurant (we had to wait over half hour for a bottle of water and glasses). It's disappointing to be looking forward to a holiday and then be met with a different kind of experience to what is advertised on the website.

Wishing Garry and Tish the best of luck with Myall Shores - it appears they'll be needing it.....

Room Tip: Garden villas are delightful; quieter and further away from the campsite than the Lake Front villas.

During our stay we saw monitor lizards, kangaroos and a multitude of bird life very close up. Its a beautiful area with heaps of things to do very close, not to mention kayaking, fishing and swimming right on your door step. The staff were very helpful.

However, they are undergoing significant management changes at the moment (we were there about 2 weeks ago) and rumor has it that its in receivership. the restaurant never seemed to be open, but you could occasionally get a drink, there was none of the promised deliveries of newspaper and milk daily and apparently they are selling off the villas. Bottom line - call before you go so you know what you are getting, and make sure you grab some groceries from the nearby town (15 mins away)

Thankyou for your review. I am glad you appreciated the natural beauty of the property. The range of wildlife and beautiful vistas from the villas are something to behold. With regards to your other comments, yes we are undergoing a change of onsite management. Our new team Garry and Tish have only been onsite a couple of weeks and are gearing up for the busy summer season. It has taken a little while to get supplies and staffing organised, but the cafe and bar are now completely operational, you can check the dining section of our website for menu and opening hours. As for the property being in receivership, this is definitely not true. Escape2 Holiday Parks and Resorts purchased the property around 2 years ago and over that time have been working towards our goal of reverting the property back to its roots, a quality holiday park in a beautiful natural environment. We have almost completed the removal of excess cabin accommodation, and are currently working on upgrades to the amenities and the creation of additional camping and caravan sites. We are also planning to build some safari tent style accommodation, to supplement the cabins that will remain. With regards to milk and papers, we actually never advertised daily milk, it was always milk on arrival. This is the same at all of our parks and resorts. There may have been some confusion there. Due to the isolated location, we are unable to receive daily paper deliveries like some of our other parks and resorts, however we can offer a free weekly local paper on request. I hope you will return again to see the great changes taking place, and bring your friends too.

After a 4 hour drive from Sydney this is the perfect spot in October for a quiet holiday in natural surroundings .No loud noise or the hustle and bustle of the city here. All you can here are the birds chirping.the goannas scurrying up trees and the wind blowing across tranquil waters.Miles of lakes for observing wildlife such as black swans and wood ducks from a kayak or a boat and even a small sandy beach for the sunbaking enthusiast. The crystal clear waters are idyllic for swimming and even the goannas can be seen gliding off the sandy banks into Myall Lake. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and cannot be faulted. There is even a restaurant there to accommodate hungry appetites.
