Dream was an okay hotel. It is newer so with that in mind there was nothing broken or worn but on the other hand it had a sterile feeling to it. The whole place just felt a little cramped. The grounds were kept impeccably clean and the pool was spotless and gets pretty deep. Virginie at Recepcion was very pleasant to deal with.

I liked the views of the ocean from the second story room, they were something else. It was relaxing to sit on the porch and enjoy the sights and sounds. I liked the spacious bathroom and the attention to detail in the room and on the porch. I liked that the room lights, fan and AC could be controlled from the bed.

It would be nice to have a table in the room to put luggage on, rather than the floor. The jacuzzi was locked off and presumably not in service. The beach chairs have no padding on them which can make them uncomfortable. The hotel can be a little loud depending on what other guests are there. There aren't many mature palms. There is no restaurant/cafe there so you get vouchers for breakfast to your choice of three nearby places. At El Jardin (Los Mapaches) I had the worst breakfast on the island that morning that consisted of one small cup of coffee, one cup of juice and two minuscule cheese quesadillas. It wasn't even worth the time walking over there and waiting around for that.

I do think the hotel has a lot of potential and perhaps they will continue improving it.

As poor, tired teachers we've traveled to many different, off-the-beaten path locations in Mexico the last 8 years. Thanks to the Dream Hotel, Virginie and her staff, this was the best trip yet. The rooms and hotel were sparkling clean, with a great location close to town but away from any racket. The beach was outside our door with a pool for a change of pace. Our only suggestions would be to add some cushions to the lounge chairs (for those of us who put in an 8-hour day of lounging), a shared or communal refrigerator (for our beers as we lounge), and a picnic table to sit around and play games (after a hard day of lounging).

I just came back from a week at HolBox Dream hotel and I have to say its name is absolutely true. This vacation was exquisite, the hotel is really cute and the room so nice, I can't count the hours I spent on my hammock on my balcony. I also really appreciated the manager, a very nice and helpful french woman and all the staff there was just perfect!
There's also a lot to do in the island, I really enjoyed visiting it driving a little golf cart!
From what I saw, if you want to visit HolBox, this hotel is definitely one of the best in the island, I highly recommend it.

My wife and I just returned from Holbox and enjoyed our stay at Holbox Dreams hotel. The rooms where a pleasure to stay in and would highly recommend them if you are into peace and quit. The only sounds you could here where the waves breaking just outside your door. The unusual cool weather kept us from enjoying the pool or the Ocean but that would not stop us from visiting this incredibly beautiful Island again. Everyone we meet was a pleasure and most helpful. It was low season and a lot of the local businesses where closed but that was no matter to us, we found some very unique treasures to bring home. The local restaurants served some incredible dishes our favorite by far was Zarabanda with chef Leo at the helm. Leo would come out to personally great his customers and took the time to explain the catch of the day.. Mmmmmmm
We rented a golf cart for our travels among the sand roads as I was blessed with a broken foot at the time, this is a very common mode of travel, that or scooters where you could see whole families commuting. If you want to unwind and getaway from the stresses of life I would most definitely recommend this hideaway.

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night getaway to this little island. We took a ferry across to this island, about 4 hours north of Cancun, and it was so wonderful. There is no "tourism" here, very quiet, and this hotel was wonderful. Virginia was wonderful, and the place was immaculate. The rooms had a gorgeous view, the pool was nice, and there were plenty of chairs on the beach. The price was very good, especially for what you get. there are no restaurants at the hotel, but you get a ticket for a complimentary breakfast for each person in your room to use at a few different options in town. There are no cars on the island, and not a lot of restaurants either, but if you are looking for relaxation, romance and tranquility in the Caribbean, this is it.Will return for this piece of heaven again.

  • Liked — quietness, tranquility
  • Disliked — lack of restaurants on the island
