“Heavenly Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

The location is so perfect. This part of the beach was very quiet and beautiful. It was almost devoid of people, with shallow warm water, it was hot but not ridiculously so. Lots of sunbeds and hammocks. Superb service, staff and grounds. Drinks and food were all delicious with the fresh fish and grills our favourite. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Rooms are nicely decorated but kept simple to match the Island style. Birdsong woke us and the sea was always in the background. All in all it was an amazing holiday for us. Out of this world.

Just returned from spending a week at Paraiso del Mar. What a wonderful hotel.

The junior suite rooms are very spacious. They include a large bedroom setting area, a comfortable outdoor porch with hammock and an extremely large bathroom and shower. It was one of the most relaxing and restful rooms we have stay in for a very long time.

The hotel includes a full breakfast in their basic room rates. A hearty breakfast that will last you much of the day.

This island is not the place for you to do an all-inclusive package. We had one lunch and one dinner at Paraiso del Mar and while they offer standard buffet style food, nothing we had at the hotel compared to the other restaurants on the island. Whatever you do, DON'T go all-inclusive at this hotel (or at any hotel on the island). There are so many wonderful restaurants on Holbox that you are missing half the experience of being on Holbox if you're not eating the local food. If you must have an all-inclusive hotel then I suggest you go to someplace like Punta Cana. The food really is that delicious on Holbox and is not to be missed.

The hotel is about a five to ten minute walk from the center of town. We walked a number of times but also rented a golf cart from the hotel for a few hours every few days to check out the extreme ends of the island. The whole island is very easy to get around.

Also, if you're planning your trip yourself, I highly recommend that you let the hotel make your transfer arrangements to and from the Cancun airport. Our transfer were as painless as possible. When we exited the airport we were met by Pepe from Holbox Transfers who drove us in a comfortable Mercedes van to the Chiquila ferry dock and purchased our tickets for the ferry to Holbox. Once on Holbox, there was a golf cart taxi driver waiting with our names on a sign and he drove us to the hotel in five minutes. The same happened on our return. It was all very easy.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a first or second floor room as the third floor rooms don't have balconies...

10 nights stay went by so fast wish we'd booked longer. Everything was just fantastic about this hotel. The beach and wildlife on your doorstep and the superb service from the moment we arrived was unbeatable. Excellent room and great food to boot.

Hotel is situated approx 5 mins by golf cart from the ferry, beach front. Rooms are spacious, big shower, and a ceiling fan, and screen doors that allows you to have windows open during the night. The food is delicious, no need for premium All inclusive, the regular was more than enough. The staff was super attentive and very friendly! Antonio in the restaurant always gave us the best service.
Will definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Wish for ground floor as this give you a hammock at the porch.

Once there I realized that the pictures, as good as they were, did not do the villas justice.

Our room was located on the third floor of one of the villa buildings. We liked climbing up the beautiful wooden spiral staircase to get to our large, immaculately clean room. Our bed was comfortable. The weather was perfect, allowing fresh breezes to blow through the windows that we kept open while we soundly slept. The bathroom was equally clean, with a large shower that always had hot water and great water pressure.

The open air lobby was beautiful and one of the two places on property offering WiFi (the restaurant was the other), so people tended to hang out there day and night. It offered some nice people watching.
There was a bar in the lobby that opened in the evening. It was a popular place. One night we each got an electric blue Holbox and settled into a little nook right by the bar.
Villas Paraiso Del Mar's location was ideal. It was in walking distance to town and other restaurants in the area. If you didn't want to walk, or wanted to explore beyond the walk-able areas, there were golf carts available for rent. You could also arrange a number of different tours with the Villas' friendly, helpful staff.

There was a very nice pool, but it was hard to want to sit by it when the sand and gulf water begged to be admired. There was an iguana that enjoyed chilling out by the pool. We named him Mortimer and said hello to him everyday.

The beach area put us into an instant state of relaxation. There were places to lounge with plenty of shade, and places to lounge if you don’t become an instant lobster in the sun. Every so often a staff person would come around to see if loungers wanted a drink or a snack from the pool bar.

The breakfast buffet was great. I highly recommend the cinnamon and sugar doughnuts.

There are many nice places to stay on Holbox Island, but I think the wonderfulness of Villas Paraiso Del Mar greatly contributed to the overall awesomeness of our trip.

This was the second part of our honeymoon, somewhere more perfect would have been hard to find. Our suite was over two levels and was so romantic, killer views, quiet a/c with home comforts to relax at night. It is a wonderful Island where many try to be as eco friendly as possible, I salute you all. The food and drinks are good, with the friendly service never becoming stale. We had such a hard time packing to return home and the photos although great reminders are so underwhelming compared to what we saw for real. No words can describe how perfect this was.

The grounds of this hotel are absolutely stunning. We loved the overgrown walkways and many flowering trees! We stayed in a junior suite on the third floor- there is a winding staircase up to the third floor which can be a bit tricky if you have had a couple of adult beverages or are lugging a suitcase. The rooms very clean and comfortable. We also loved the location- it was just a short walk into town. The staff was helpful and friendly. We found breakfast was varied and tasty. We also ate dinner in the restaurant a couple of times and found it to be quite nice as well. It's a quiet hotel with not much to do, but the times still manages to go way too fast.

Room Tip: The 3rd level rooms don't have an outdoor sitting area- this was a feature we really missed!
