“The best tikinchic sauce with grilled fish.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Right on the beach, this is the place to come for a whole grilled grouper with Mayan tikinchic sauce. Ebe and his crew will take excellent care of you and you will not forget this wonderful venue right on the Golfo de Mexico.

“Raices – Sadly we only came here once”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Located on the beach approximately 200 yards past Hotel Mawimbi, there is a little collection of huts that is the home to the Raices Beach Club and Marina, which is actually a misnomer since there is no true “marina” but rather a place that the local fishermen bring their boats ashore. But don’t let the thatched roofed huts fool you, this little dive bar on the beach has some of the best food on the island. Plus you cannot beat the location….on the beach.

This restaurant and bar is run by local fishermen who bring their fresh catch and serve it to you. There is no other fresher fish than ones that are caught in the morning by the guys working at the restaurant.

So if you are walking down to Punta Mosquito and just want a beer or a full meal….then do yourself a favor. Stop here and watch the world go by while enjoying some awesome fresh food….. and …..BTW – you are on island time….want fast food? Go to Cancun.

“Slow food restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

They advertise themselves as the slow food restaurant and it is, but so worth it. They offer what was fresh, talk to you about how you would like it prepared and then get to work. While you want the owner chats with you, the service staff keep constant check on your cold beer and margaritas and there is often live music. All right on the beach with a great view. The seafood is worth the wait, so fresh and in my opinion they prepare the best lobster on the island!

“Full of Local Character!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Yes, this is THE “Slow Food Restaurant” but it is definitely one you don’t want to miss. It IS slow, but who cares when you have a cold beverage and you’re looking at the million dollar view of sea and sand that Holbox has to offer. It’s local, full of great character and fun. Salsa, guacamole and fresh fish were all wonderful. Head east down the beach, just past Mawimbi.
