“lovely hotel. Makes you feel like home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012 via mobile

I had a really nice time staying at Casa Blat Ha. It is a small but really cozy place where you always feel like home. Rooms are a little bit small (though very clean). You should consider no more than 2 people per room. But each of them has a terrace with a view to the sea and every afternoon you get a perfect sunset show. Breakfast is included and served in the main living room. This was always a great chance to get to know other people staying there, and make new friends before heading to town or the beach. I would absolutely stay there again when I go back to Holbox.

Casa Blat Ha is a really lovely place to stay for a relaxing time on Holbox. The rooms are simple but really clean with an amazing view of the sea. Daniel could not have been more helpful or friendly. He organised everything we needed from bikes to transfers. The sunset sail was a highlight, arriving back in the dark so we saw phosphoresence which was incredible. It's a bit of a walk into the town but we rented a golf cart for a couple of days which was great. Unfortunately we didn't really spend any time on the beach right by the hotel as although beautiful it was covered in a really smelly seaweed, but I understand this was unlucky as it's only there one month a year. Further up by all the other hotels in town this wasn't too much of a problem. Breakfast was really friendly, great to chat to other guests, more fruit and some yogurt would have been great. The food in Casa de las Tortugas is highly recommended.

Casa Blat Ha is located a little far from downtown but it's really clean, quiet and has a beautiful view from the rooftop. Also It has a botanical garden to makes you relax. The owner and the staff are very friendly and kind. I liked to have a breackfast with them and other guests of the hotel. I stayed there with 2 babies but my stay was comfortable. (the babies slept on a futon that the owner offered to us.) You can feel something different than those big hoteles in resort area, it really can be your "casa" during your stay!

THIS PLACE IS AMAAAZING!!! The hotel is right on the beach and although we came by around mid-august last year, there was literally no one else on the beach. It was unbelievable. Not a soul. And there's another beach 10 mins away where we saw loads of flamingos and little fishes. The hotel itself is a cosy little place with only a few rooms, it feels more like a big house really. We had free breakfast every morning and we got to taste delicious juices made of fruit from the owner's own garden (my favourite remains watermelon juice!!). There's a green touch to this place that I really apreciated. The island is a little piece of paradise and I was glad to notice that this hotel endeavours to keep it that way. About the town, it really comes to life after 6PM. We had lobster pizza one night, and local food at another restaurant. Please, don't leave this place without trying the "agua de chaya". I never had anything like it to this day. Honestly, it's been the best trip of my life, I highly recommend it!!!!!!!

Casa BlatHa stay was probably the best hotel experience I have ever had so far: a beautiful building in the remote part of island, very clean nice rooms with the balcony where you can put a hammock, fantastic view and absolute silence in the evenings.

Also, what is most important: Daniel who runs the place is a great host: supportive, open to questions, ready to provide recommendations about what to do and where to go for dinner, walk or swim in Holbox. And they have great breakfasts - with the best home made marmalade I have ever tasted, I think all the other hotels on Holbox should buy this from Daniel and his friends who prepare this marmalade)

Daniel has also told us about the Mayan village Nuevo Durango where he has a home and invited us to visit it which we did during the tour to Tulum and Coba, we did not have much there unfortunately but we were invited to the lunch by the local family.

I am really looking forward to get back to Holbox and Casa BlatHa, have just returned and missing it already!!

It is a small hotel, more a bed and breakfast ideal for couples who are deeply in love, its about 10 blocks walking from the 1st minimart and farther from restaurants and bars. I recomend to rent a bike if you want to stay there, that will make your stay more conmfortable and enjoyable. The rooms are small but well decorated and very clean, the balcony has a hammock and the views are great, specially the sunset from the rooftop terrace.
the staff is extremelly kind and friendly, specially Sofia, our hostess during our stay.
Not recomended if you travel alone or specting met new people, you'll be bored and disappointed.

But if you want a honeymoonlike vacation this is great for you, the best beach of the island is two blocks far from this hotel.

The rooms may not be huge, but they are adequate size and the little artistic and homely details more than make up for it. The bathrooms have excellent showers, not a drizzle like most other places in Mexico. And then there's the VIEW...
We got there to find the towels had been arranged in a heart-like shape, and every detail had been thought through carefully. The living area, which you are more than welcome to use, is homely, breezy and tastefully decorated and the owner extremely friendly and a font of information about the island. So, it's a bit of a walk to town (maybe ten minutes), but Holbox is a place in which to enjoy the quiet, the birds, the beeches, the sunrise and sunset from the roof terrace, or the stars at night. Very romantic, very peaceful, felt like home. Didn't want to leave. Would strongly recommend!
