Entering Maplethorpe will take you back... It may feel like visiting an Island farm kitchen of the 1950s. At least that is the image I had. If you get a table in the dining room you should be able to see into the kitchen around the corner.
But you want to know about the food that comes out of that kitchen. Absolutely outstanding! They emphasize fresh and local products -- really great!
I grew up on PEI and my wife and I went one Friday night with local friends and family... Their recommendation (thanks very much).
I had PEI-grown BBQ pork ribs, others had various main courses. Then great desserts. We were all mighty pleased.
Service was friendly and very casual... Very "downhome".
Note: if you need something, do ask! Your hosts would be mortified if you left disappointed and there was something they could have done about it.
As I said, you can imagine it's a visit to grandma's and she really, REALLY wants to spoil you... No matter what your Mom says. That's what Maplethorpe is like.
Note they are not open every day; so check their hours before your visit.
