A day before arriving to Vinales, we called this house to check for availability and we were told a room was available for us. When we arrived, we were asked to stay in a house next door, because the other guests had not left yet, and they may leave the day after. We were then encouraged to stay in the other house and told we could eat our meals at Oscar's, where we wanted to stay due to the setting of the house which seemed like a hostel and had a common area for travellers. We then viewed the other room. When we got back to Oscar's we were however told that no, we could indeed not eat our meals there (they changed version in the space of 5 minutes). We then decided to go look for another place altogether, and stayed there the whole 3 nights we intended to stay in Vinales. I am not sure what Cubans think, but changing room every night and constantly packing and unpacking is not my idea of travelling.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- One Casa Particular in Viñales is exceptional. The house, amenities, and particularly the food are excellent, but, once again, it is the family of Oscar Jaime Rodriguez and Leyda Robaina Arteaga that become your hosts, friends, and protectors. The Jaimes and Robainas families envelope you you with love and joy. The compound of several houses include grandparents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. There are so many familly members that one must set aside time for daily Cuban ritual of shaking hands with each man and kissing all women and girls. ... more less
