“Beautiful and Serene - Worth a Visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

So beautiful! It was secluded and pristine, and it's a perfect beach for photo opps. We spent a small amount of time during our cruise stop on the island, and we are glad we did. We only dipped our feet in the water since it's not really safe for swimming. Definitely worth the trip even though it's about 30 minutes away from the cruise terminal!

“Fantastic waves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014 via mobile

Bottom bay is a secluded beach on the East Coast. The waves are strong so you have to be careful but crashing around in them is invigorating. The beach is secluded apart from non - intrusive coconut sellers, and a seemingly empty house perched on the cliff top overlooking the beach.
You can get there by bus to Culpepper and get off just after Shrewsbury chapel. The road does a light zigzag and the road to Bottom bay is signposted. At the end of this road, flanked by new housing construction, after half a mile, are some steps through a wooded glade down to the beach. Not difficult to find at all, and this way will cost you only 2 Bdollars!

“Jumping in the waves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

Great beach. Great waves for jumping in. Reminded me a bit of Watergate bay in Cornwall, though with lovely palm trees and a lot hotter. No sun loungers, just sun sea sand and the coconut drinks sellers. The drinks are great if pricy but there's no heavy sale pitch but if you want a drink they are fab. A real change from the calm waters on the other side of the island.
Take care if you are not a good swimmer though, the waves are powerful. Our 12 year old daughter loved it but you do need to be good swimmers

“This beach is so private and so pretty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Bottom bay is well worth a visit, . When we went there was nobody else there so we just sat on the sand and played in the surf. The swells were quite high so to swim would be fool hardy as there was a severe undertow. Two local teens came to offer us sunbeds, and we got one each from them, we also got a coconut with a dash of rum,. The local boys were very chatty and very friendly. I would recommend a trip to this beach just to see it.

“Lovely Beach, be cautious swimming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

Great beach with white sand and coconut trees. Have had many picnics here growing up.
The sea can be rough, so be cautious if you attempt to swim here. Also depending on the time of year, jellyfish can be found washed up on the beach.
