“Traditional town pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We`ve been to the Black Boy on our last 2 visits to Newtown on both occassions the landlords have made us most welcome. There is quite an extensive menu but whatever you ask for they will do their best to accomodate your requests.
The food was very good, great ales, nice wines, a lovely outside seating area.
The only negative side is that there are televisions but there is a dining room where you can get away from them.

“Scrummy food in Wales”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

I have been going to Wales since the early 90's and have a relative living there. I went to this pub as it is the only one I will entertain when taking my Aunt out for a meal. We went for a carvery late lunchtime and it was one of the best meals I have had.

It is good value, plenty of food, children are welcome and real ale. It is a little hard to park as the car park is in a back street between two houses so go looking for it as it is worth a visit. The Welsh Lamb was melt in the mouth gorgeous.

“This place is..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

This place is one of the best places to go have a carvery.

There is always 3 diffrent meats and if you like all 3, they let you have all 3.

Your not limited like some pubs where you get 1 roast pot and few veg. Here it is help your self, some times my eye's been bigger than my belly.
