Lovely old farm house, large spacious rooms, comfy bed, roll top bath and large shower with lots of hot water.Had the use of the lounge for evening drinks. Friendly owner and wife helping to make our stay a pleasant one. Breakfast wonderful catering for both the meat eaters and veggies in out party, plenty of food with eggs straight from the chicken outside. Beautiful setting in the Welsh countryside, while being close to the attractions of the Town.

Booked this very last minute for one of our engineers to stay as a job had overrun. Very friendly and helpful on phone and engineer said that they were very good with him when he arrived, nothing was too much trouble, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Ben is not easy to please so if he said this it must have been good.

We have just stayed at The Gro for one night during our recent cycle trip on Route 81 (Lon Cambria) and received the warmest and friendliest of welcomes from Mick and his wife when we arrived soaking wet and tired. What a gentleman!
The bedroom was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and the most wonderful deep roll top bath. The breakfast was excellent especially the free range eggs from the owners own chickens.
Would definately recommend The Gro as a place to stay and would certainly stay again.
Mick's hospitality was wonderful.

We stayed in ther Gro Guest House for one sleepless night at the end of June. The house has a musty damp smell when you go in directly to the dining area.
Our room (no.4) was a twin en-sutie. Upon pulling back the duvet cover 2 small black insects scurried accros the white sheet towards the headboard.
The room was dusty on surfaces and the corner of the bathroom near the wash basin was black with grime. Also there was a hole in the floor.
We skipped breakfast!!
Do not recommend this place.

I am rather disappointed you did not speak to either my wife or myself regarding your stay, as you can see from ALL the other reviews we are both very approachable regarding our guests stay.
Iread with interest your comments regarding our guest house(as I did all your notes left in the rooms)
You stated that ther was a damp musty smell in the property, in all the years we have been trading you are the only person who has ever said this.
You also stated that there were two small insects in the bed, if this was the case I can only appologise. On seeing your note on the bed, the bed was carefully stripped and the dyson emptied and the filters cleaned prior to completley vacuming the bedding and the matress but this did not produce anything.
The shelf you said was black with grime was dusty I Admit. As regards the hole in the floor in the bathroom this was a small knot which disintergrated when the pine floor was being stripped prior to the floor being sealed I took the trouble to measure the hole and at its widest point it measured less than 1" (2.5 cms)

Stayed for a couple of nights. We had a very large room, that was really nice. The highlight was of course Mick's breakfast.

So great old house, Too much to eat, and Mick's welcome; what more could you ask for.

We needed to find dog-friendly accommodation close to my friend's place just outside Newtown. We found The Gro on a Google search and were delighted. It is run by a very friendly couple and the house is set in its own spacious grounds. The room was huge and our dog Billie loved the place! The breakfast was also excellent. We would definitely go back and I strongly recommend it. I now need to post the keys back! Oops!

The welcome is lovely, the power showers are larger than the usual boxes that you get! Two of the bedrooms have roll top baths (as well as the large power showers). Standard drinks tray in the bedrooms. Breakfast is the full monty or cereals or toast - whatever you heart desires! Besda are very comfortable.

In the summer there is a BBQ are and tables and chairs so that you can make use of the extensive gardens. There is a microwave so if you decide that you want hot food in the evening it iseasy.

Mick and Linn the owners are well informed in terms of what is available in the local area and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of parking if you need it.

If you are hoping for a romantic weekend - ask for Room1 - hip bath, fab power shower, and a large bedroom beautifully decorated....
