“Very good meal, very good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

A Wednesday night with the wife saw us visit one of only the few restaurants open.

A wonderful meal. Mussel's & langoustines to start, followed by a fish and chips & steak pie. The fish was light in batter and really well cooked, the steak pie was filling yet tasty and a very good meal.

Dessert of brownie was also excellent.

The service was good and attentive. The only poor thing was it was very quiet and we had to endure the person on a table adjacent was constantly having his phone play a tune at all times.
Not amazing but very very good and I would return

“Wonderful lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Day trip over to Tarbert from Portgavadie and couldn't have chosen a better place to eat. I had Scottish brie in breadcrumbs and my husband had Cullen Skink both were delicious. For mains I had langoustine and my husband had lamb chops. The meal was lovely and well worth the money. The restaurant was really nicely decorated, clean and airy. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful - answering all our questions about local places to visit or sights we had seen. We would happily recommend this place to anyone visiting Tarbert and hopefully we will be able to return!

“No leadership”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

Took a 86 mile drive to tarbert on a lovely thinking we are going to enjoy a good meal, was I mistaken.First in so only us two to cook for, waited 20 mins for starter,Cullen skink with big black hair in it and pigeon (which I asked for med rare)over cooked not nice ,told waiter about the hair just looked at us and walked away, next course chicken boudin not bad and venison (med rare,I asked twice before meal came out) med to well done (aaaah). The prices are way way to advanced for this quality of food, nobody seemed to be interested in sort or asking us about our experience(poor) ,So my advice if your heading here, don't ,if you want a nice meal lovely atmosphere, warm welcome and a real chef with experience cooking your food for your hard earned money,go to West Loch Hotel ,you will not be dissapointed

“Food is wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Seafood stew was amazing. Food seriously good. Restaurant was quiet during our stay, despite it being St Valentine's night. All the better for us as the chef obviously put a huge effort into our meal.
