“Living history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Quite a few trains in the old train shed so well maintained - shiny and clean so much history - dedicated people keeping heritage alive - a really nice place to visit - easy to find just at the end of the railway line. T

“Small but satisfying”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

You enter the museum which was originaly the carriage shed. through the shop. Here you can watch a video or look through the offerings on sale. There is no need to buy right away as you leave through the shop.

In the next room are locomotives and coaches along with memoralbilia from the long closed lines take your time to look at the old pictures of how the island was when public transport gave a service for the motor car destryed the countryside.

there is a small charge to get in but it is well worth twice the price and the proceeds go towards the restoration of the present railway.

“small but interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is not a large museum, but the entry charge is modest, and it's worth a look. Nice selection in the gift shop, if you are a rail buff!

Good for coffee, just plain and simple but clean and staff very friendly. Not sparkling menu choice but what there is well presented and good value for money

“Transported”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

At the western end of the IoM steam railway is a delightful museum charting the development and history of the steam railways of Man. It is very well laid out with informative posters. One small part is not accessible by wheelchair. There is a lot to see and it give some of the social history of the island and the influence the railways had on it. There is a wide slection of souveniers on sale. Catering facilities are available in the station buffet some 50m away. Due to its location car parking can be tricky.
