I stayed at Castleton House in November and found it most comfortable and most importantly really warm.

Gail, my host, did a lot to make me feel welcome and was a mine of information about the local area. The house is attractively decorated
and Gail and Peter have some nice paintings and furniture which give the house a very traditional and comfortable feel. Breakfast was served in the elegant dining room, I enjoyed freshly baked muffins and
then a traditional English breakfast. I also bought some of Gail's
very good home made jam to take home.

I had need of B&B for one night only near to a family building restoration project. The welcome by Mrs Gail Garbutt was warm anf friendly, and I was shown round the accomodation personally. The standard of the room was very good and the breakfast was even better with a wide range of cereals, fruit and many cooked options. It was nice to be served a traditional kipper, unfilleted, with home baked bread. My hostess was most informative and helpful and when I next visit the building project, probably with my wife on that occasion, I shall certainly be checking the availability of Castleton House before any other.

This bed and breakfast is right in the middle of Mere. Gail, our hostess, was cheerful and welcoming. Our two rooms were connected by a small landing, and each room had its own bath. Everything was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent--choice of cereals, fruit, etc., plus choice of hot foods. We had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on homemade toast. Off-street parking was available, but we had no trouble parking on the street right in front of the door.
