Great touring site, visited it 18 months ago new toilet blocks built. Steve the warden extremely helpful. Rained heavily for two day and the awning was flooded even though the caravan was on hardstanding. Would be better if awning area was gravel to allow drainage.
All facilities on site are excellent for kids of all ages

We visited this site as part of the Sun Newspaper promotion. Mon - Fri holiday. We upgraded to get a better caravan. We were charged for 4 entertainment passes although there was only 2 of us. Although it wasnt school holidays it was June so thought it might still be lively. The site is at the end of a country lane then nothing. Passing vans and cars on this lane can be a bit 'hairy'. In the club complex there was a small arcade (nothing special) A snack bar that was closed all week, A bar that was closed all week (lack of staff or customers?) A family bar that closed at 11, the entertainment (such as it was) ended about 10.30. The staff (few as they were) were miserable. The bar had low stock. My husband had the only bottle of Newcastle Brown on Monday nights and no more came in by Friday! I asked for a bar mat for the table, there were none anywhere and was given the only one! Drinks as usual for captive audiences on holiday parks were expensive. The adult entertainment was apparently Tues, Fri and Sat so we only saw Tues which was ok. The other nights was mainly kids club and some 'teamsters' singing. I have to say that the club looks very very small for the number of caravans (unlike Haven Holidays) and I think it would be very difficult to get a table in the busy holiday weeks. The Security guy wandered around the club but didn't seem to do much. He only asked us for our passes once in the week so we wandered in and out. There is no security gate at the entrance to stop cars coming on site. At the end of the week I asked security guy where the bins were on site and he didn't know. I know its not his job but surely he should know the lay-out of the site for security purposes? He radioed someone to ask and they didn't know either! There was no inventory in the caravan and seemed to be little in the cupboards, just enough. Haven give you lots of everything. The lighting was very poor in the caravan so we went out and bought a lamp. The caravan was extremely dark at night and extremely light in the mornings. I was awake from 5 a.m as the curtains were so thin. Lighting outside the club walking to our caravan was poor so we bought a torch. The caravan was clean and average, the site was clean, some roadways too narrow, site in the middle of no-where.Bar and club small and average, most staff miserable. I wouldn't go to this site again.

Room Tip: Take a cover to put up at the windows. Take a torch for walking back to the caravan. Take extra lamp...

Thank you for your review and I am sorry that our park was too quiet for you. I am a little concerned about your comments regarding the attitude of the staff as other reviews do not substantiate this.

The snack bar to which you refer is a peak season addition to the facilities. The bar itself offers an excellent range of takeaway and eat-in food with a full and comprehensive menu.

I am sorry that Skipsea was not the right park for you on this occasion, and thank you again for your feedback.

We had never been on holiday to the Yorkshire coast before, so we were not sure if we would enjoy it as much as north Wales. Well we did, close enough to; Bridlington, Scaborough, Filey, York. The sea and beaches were the cleanest we've seen for a long time, the people were friendly as well, we will be returning again and again.

The first time as this site as we usually go to cayton bay, fancied a change and now I have to say we will always pick skipsea sands over cayton bay.

We went through sun holidays in a bronze caravan, the caravan was spacious bearing in mind there was 4 adults - we didn't feel crammed in. The caravan was clean, we had a mini balcony with the double doors that open onto it - this was brilliant as the weather was roasting.

The first impressions of the staff members on site was brilliant - we checked in early the girl on reception was polite and helpful we felt very welcomed.

First thing we did after checking in and unpacking was swimming, the pool and changing areas are very clean, the pool was always at a great temperature - again the staff working there were polite and helpful.

The amusements were brilliant there was plenty of choice. Bowling was fun!

We spent a couple of evenings down in the bar for the entertainment as I said before it was 4 adults so we tried to avoid the kiddy events - the entertainment was fantastic, only thing I'd say it they don't give times of what's on - like for example late night hub it doesn't say what time it starts so on the first night we ended up sitting In on the sparky krew which Is great for kids don't get me wrong.

The entertainers are brilliant, Brad really knows how to make the evening - it's great how he can provide entertainment for all ages. Same goes for Ryan. Really great show and there comedy act made our last night. Great guys all round!

We had one evening meal in the on site restaurant which was delicious! Good prices!
On the last morning after checking out we went in for some breakfast which again was cheap enough and was perfectly cooked.

Only thing I would say is the bar is a little pricey - if your going for a week it starts to add up - however the entertainment takes the sting away as it's totally worth it!

Thanks to all staff at skipsea sands for making our holiday brilliant.

We will defiantly be back next year and be sure to recommend to our friends and family!

Thanks again!!!

We visited the park at the weekend as a last minute break booked using the Sun Holiday promotion.

Accommodation

We did not upgrade and the caravan allocated exceeded our expectations, it was modern, newly carpeted and very clean. The only down side to it was the very, very small bathroom.
Regrettably in England the weather is always against you and due to this and the fact parking is all on grassed areas the space around the caravan was sodden with water and muddy, this obviously trails inside, grass had been mowed, but the cuttings not collected, so these gathered on shoes and trailed inside buildings.

Food & Drink

We ate once in the onsite pub/restaurant and the food was of good standard and HOT, were not talking fine dining but in comparison to chain pubs such as Brewers Fayre etc it was very good. The tables in the dining area are small tho and for a party of 4 it was a squeeze with plates etc.
In terms of drinks this is one of the main down sides of the resort, drink prices are SKY high. For a standard size children’s fruit shoot drink £1.95, other drinks were way above town centre prices, however the serving staff were polite and friendly.

Entertainment.

Swimming – Good size, clean swimming pool with clean changing rooms and warm water.
Bowling – we didn’t play as busy but appeared to be good value for money.
Amusements – Old Fashioned and smelt fusty, and the 2p machines appeared to be lacking in coins, which is not great when your wanting to let little ones have a go.
Soft Play area – Looks good, however no seating for parents who are observing, I also believe that when you buy entertainment passes it should be included.
Evening Entertainment – This is my biggest frustration, they are clearly trying and whilst they may appeal to some it was just not great, silly games etc and not the greatest humour, one of the guys did appear to be enthusiastic but it was clear that one of the girls had family visiting and rather than work she spent the whole night sat with them, whilst I am sure its nice to see your family etc it just gives a poor impression. We actually sat and timed her and she was sat with then for a total of 3 hours 26 mins without moving!

All in all we had a nice time and used the park as a base to visit places in the area but I would have been very disappointed if we had paid the full premium for our break,

Thank you for your review and your points are noted. The park does have a mix of pitches, some with block paved driveways and some with grass parking. I note your point about the grass and we are in the process of purchasing a mulching mower to assist with grass cutting.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed the food and the quality was good. I am also pleased to read your comments regarding the friendly bar staff. The prices at Skipsea are actually very comparable to the town prices and there are various promotions on at the moment such as four bottles of Budweiser for £10.

The girl you refer to who was sat with her family for most of the night was actually not on the rota – as her parents were here she joined in with some of the evening entertainment simply to show her parents what she did. She was not actually working.
I am sure all guests can appreciate that entertainment is a very personal thing and what appeals to one may not appeal to another but we do have a diverse range of entertainment to suit all age groups.

Thank you again for your comments and I hope that we may see you again in the future.
