“To Good To Miss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

We have just returned home after a weekend break a party of six adults who all enjoyed our stay. The first thing to mention is the staff all polite friendly and very efficient nothing to much trouble and everything done with a smile. Rooms clean large and comfortable bathrooms a touch on the tight side this is not a criticism as they are perfectly serviceable if you don't want to spend your weekend in there. And now the food excellent restaurant standard at very reasonable prices ,we stayed on a half board special offer unbelievable value. We will return to the White Rose whether the offer is available or not .
I thank the staff for a lovely stay and recommend the hotel to everybody.

Room Tip: Brilliant views from rooms at rear of hotel 2nd floor

We stopped in for lunch and felt we were disturbing the barman watching his telly whilst surfing on his laptop. Beer very cloudy, food ok but no atmosphere in bar due to no customers apart from the staff and owners who were eating their lunch in the bar. We certainly wouldn't go back.

We only used this hotel for drinks and dinner, but I have to see we really enjoyed it. We received a warm welcome and nice conversation. The place was clean and tidy and the decor really was what I would expect - I really don't want to go to ultra-modern places in a village like Askrigg - I'd rather enjoy character. Items on the menu were all very tempting and our choices were simply delicious and great value for money. We don't go to places like Askrigg expecting ultra-fast broadband the latest styles of furniture or expecting porters in every place we stay to carry our bags for us. We like them for their rather quaint, quirky and slightly old fashioned appeal. From what we saw of this place, it was just fine in all regards.

Thank you so much for your positive comments, we try not to be too modern as it wouldn't go with the building.

We spent one night in Askrig. The White Rose Hotel was nice enough for a stay but nothing special. The room was clean, but small. The window looked at the wall next door. The furnishings are from an older era ....functional. The bathroom was small and a bit of a challenge. The shower was functional. The internet was not good at all. It did not exist in our room and the speed elsewhere depended on who else was using it. The breakfast room was nice, very sunny and cheery and the food was good. An OK place..... definitely not a destination.

Room Tip: It looks like others had better luck with rooms. The countryside is gorgeous and a view over the ro...

We were both concerned about booking this hotel after reading some of the reviews but we booked a three night stay and were impressed. Our room was large double with views over the open countryside. We both found the hotel and staff warm and friendly. The breakfast was a real treat for us both as we don't normally have a full English breakfast which was 10/10 and set us both up for the day. We didn't have an evening meal at the White Rose as we like to visit other places in the area on any short stay. Would I recommend the White Rose to my friends the answer would be yes, would I return yes again.

Large twin room with bath (bliss) with shower over. Good breakfast. Only negative comment was the welcome. Arriving dripping wet after heavy rain (doing the Inns way Walk) the male member of staff insisted on the registration form being completed. Our baggage was in the hall and he watched as my walking partner and I struggled up the stairs with our load. This was enough to send us elsewhere to eat and drink - The Kings Arms Hotel. Excellent - sadly you cannot stay there unless a member.
