Just back from our second stay at Holmedale. A great B&B; clean, well-decorated rooms, incredible breakfast menu (granola with Greek yoghurt and honey is the best). Book, go and enjoy!

Room Tip: Family room sleeps two adults and two children in comfort at the top of the house.

We're just on our way home after spending 4 nights at Holmedale. What a great place. We picked Askrigg because i'm a fan of All Creatures Great & Small, and Askrigg is where a lot of filming took place. Lovely quiet village and the food at the White Rose Pub was fantastic, but make sure you book! Holmedale was lovely. We had a huge room, lovely and clean with lovely bathroom. No phone signal, but we found if we stood opposite by the church we could get a signal. Helen was very welcoming, very friendly and the breakfasts were fantastic. Could not recommend highly enough. We will defintely come back. Fantastic!

Fabulous Bed & Breakfast..the rooms were huge, very clean and well equipped. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. Helen and her family were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble...even though it was her young son Jack's first week at big school !! We felt very much at home and relaxed.
If you're visiting Yorkshire, Holmedale Bed & Breakfast is a must...we loved it.
Beautiful surrounding area and Askrigg is a traditional Dales village.

Holmedale was a delightful place to stay. We came for the Boots and Beer weekend and have already booked to stay again for next year's event. The rooms were large, clean and well equipped. The breakfast was wonderful and Helen could not have been more accommodating. We loved it. The surrounding area is amazing and well worth a visit.

Cannot say enough good things about it! Everyone that goes to the dales should stay here! The person that gave a terrible review must have been somewhere else as I have never known a hospitality or standard as excellent as holmedale!

Based in the lovely village of Askrigg (of All Creatures Great & Small" fame) Helen and Ben run a beautiful traditional Dales house, which has a number of ensuite rooms accomodating singles, couples and families. I stayed for 3 nights in the "Swaledale room" which with its low beams and pine furniture contrasting with modern features (TV with DVD, modern ensuite) is a perfect mix of comfort and tradition. Cleaniness is of a very high standard. A firm comfortable bed meant that I had a perfect sleep each night. There is a large collection of DVD's and books available to the guests to borrow.

The breakfast menu has "Luxury porridge" at the top of the list. Just try it! On my last morning I also tried the "full English". The eggs are produce of Helen's mom hens who run free in their garden...the taste of these eggs alone make this breakfast special, but there is also the local produce of bacon, sausage and black pudding which are simply to die for.

With a little luck, you can have all of this in any B&B, but it is the small details which set Holmedale apart. Helen and Ben with the help of their two delightful children make you feel part of their family, and their home feels like your home for the duration of your stay.

I enjoyed my stay at Holmedale and cannot recommend it hightly enough to those wishing to discover the charm and beauty of the Yorkshire Dales and the people there.

Thank you Helen and Ben. Hope to see you next year!

We were extremely dissapointed after our two night stay to Homedale. Our room was very basic, our towels were damp and there were not two beds in our room despite us having two children. The decor was very old fashioned and dirty and the room we felt was not ready for guests. We were told on a number of ocasions to make sure we were quiet becuase there was a baby in the house! We were very dissapointed and were made to feel like we were intruding in their house. We were left feeling very unhappy and the children were tense due to not being allowed to make any noise in our family room. The breakfasts on the other hand were absolutely fantastic and the lady even served them in her pyjamas and slippers!

We are so disappointed with this review and as you can see from all our other reviews this is completely out of character.
As Holmedale B&B website shows our rooms are not basic and we have decorated them all to a very high standard maintaining a lot of original features ensuring we provide all the modern facilities and requirements expected of a 4 star silver award B&B.
We currently out source our laundry and our towels and bedding are completely dry and laundered to a very high standard, we offer guests the choice to change their towels by asking them to put used/wet towels in the bath if required.
Both our family rooms have an extra bed in each room and if there is more than one child an extra bed will always be offered and provided on request, which we are more than happy to do.
As you can see by other comments and ratings our rooms are very clean and tidy and we ensure we maintain this high standard.
We are a friendly family run B&B and we welcome all our guests into our home and hope they feel relaxed and happy during their stay, we would never want anyone to feel uncomfortable.
Finally I have never ever served breakfast in my pyjamas and slippers and I feel that this review has been slanderous and complete lies and we are so upset and disappointed with the comments. I have questioned the family whom have stayed with us in August and he denyed sending the review so I am unsure who would have written such a cruel untrue review.
